Great fun. 10/14/2005

My sister lives in the general area, so we have gone to the park several times. There are a few places near the entrance where you can park your car, walk in and get free accesss, so be sure to drive around a bit. Don't do that on the day you have a huge picnic basket, though. It won't be fun. The fireworks are always fun, and be sure to climb the mountain if you are able. The view is not to be missed. The visitor section at the top is lame, after the long walk, I think people deserve more than a dull snack bar and two sets of bathrooms (one of which is ALWAYS closed). Go at least once. more

So much to do... 9/17/2005

Stone Mountain Park offers so many different attractions you won't be able to take them all in within just one day. Some favorite attractions are the festivals on the grounds such as the Yellow Daisy Festival. The Skyride allows you to ride up the mountain where the relief is carved into the rock or you can walk/hike up the side. A wonderful children's park is worth the trip alone. There is also a fun boat ride around the grounds as well as a train. A lodge and restaurant allow you to spend the night. more

Stone Mountain Park 8/20/2005

Stone Mountain has something for everyone. It's most famous attraction is a relief of Civil War generals carved into the side of mammoth Stone Mountain. Every night in the summer they have a laser and music show here. But the park also has a Sky ride which takes you to the top of the mountain, where there are great views of the Atlanta area. There's also a children's railroad, a tree house, riverboat, pedal boats, an antebellum styled plantation and old town. A ticket for everything is $20. My favorite activity though was free--just walking up the mountain for the views. more
