Stew Leonard's

The second of 3 stores in the NY metro area, CT and Long Island are home to the others. A supermarket with a limited selection, you save money the more you buy. Kind of along the lines of a high end country store, they have everything. A bakery, fresh bread daily, a pastry shop (Arthur Ave Baking company) a butcher, a fish market, salad/hot food bar, deli. Meat and fish prices tend to be higher but quality and selection is excellent. Precooked meats include honey barbecued chicken wings that are to die for and at 5.99/lb an excellent bargain. Catering is also available. Seasonal treats include a petting zoo for the kids in the summer, a cow, sheep, goats. Reindeer at Christmas, Christmas trees. A separate liquor store, an extensive selection of plants in the summer and my favorite a lobster dinner $10.99 last year with a whole lobster, corn on the cob, fries. Burgers and hot dogs are also available for those who want it. A popular destination for Westchesterites who are closer to this location than going to CT, Bronxites and Manhattanites (you can tell who they are, they ooh and ah). more

Lots of fresh vegetables and fruit here. Baked goods are delicious and they also have hot foods to take out or eat inside. You can even sample some of the foods. Look for specials in newspaper ad. They also make nice fruit/candy baskets and foods for delivery. Delivery is fast and it is reasonably priced. Very big parking lot and it gets very crowded! more

Stew's is a great place to shop. The kids love it for the farm and the ice cream while my wife and I love the fresh veggies and fruit. Stew's is not just a store, it is a shopping/entertainment experience. Spend a few hours and even enjoy a wonderful meal which is fresh and inexpensive. more

Stew Leonards is a specialty grocery store that is extremely family friendly. Their meats, fruits and vegetables are first-rate - only the freshest will do at Stews. In addition, they have a wonderful bakery department that makes wonderful cakes and treats. But the best part of shopping here is all of the kid-friendly touches, from the cow that walks around greeting the kids, to the singing banana in the produce area, to the small petting zoo at the back. Kids always look forward to visiting Stews - making grocery shopping less of a chore. more
