My car stopped working altogether and it was street parked on Memorial Day weekend. So come tuesday morning I had til 830am to move it so I wouldn't get a ticket. I have a mechanic I go to that also happens to be on West 38th (right next door active auto is great if you are looking for a mechanic.) So I google tow trucks (not aware the shop I go to has one). I call and tell the guy I have a specific mechanic in mind on West 38th and he (Jacob) say's great - I will be there in 10 minutes, it will be $75. So I think that sounds good. It takes the guy 30 minutes, the nypd is on my street ticketing by the time he shows up and when I tell him where I want it towed to he says ""no no no that is gonna be $125, I work for Steve's Detailing and I gotta take the car there."" he tries to convince me to take my car to a shop I know nothing about, and unfortuantely with the Nypd there it was take a 50 dollar ticket and wait for my shop to pick it up (having called and found out they tow 24-7 with their own company) or eat the extra 50$ and go with this guy to the shop now. Basically a totally crooked business practice. The tow truck driver tried to say oh he probably thought you meant you were coming to his shop, but anyone who has ever been on W38th street knows its mechanic central, being right by the Lincoln tunnel, there have to be half a dozen places right there and I said I wanted a specific one, so these people are full of it.
