Best chocolate/banana milkshakes anywhere!! 10/1/2006

Stella's is a wonderful place to take your family. It is a kid-friendly restaurant and loads of fun! My three children love the Stella's menu and enjoy having a milkshake poured on their head(s) at every visit. My husband and I enjoy Stella's atmosphere. The food is excellent not to mention the wonderful customer service and wait staff. Two thumbs up to Stella's-the greatest family restaurant in town!!!! Pros: Fun, kid-friendly atmosphere. Great food for a great price. more

Highly recommended!! Tons of fun!! Great food!! Great service!! The kids love the singing and dancing done by the staff we all love it!! Especially how the milkshakes are individually poured if you choose, just don't move!! Have to check it out to know what we mean!! A must see!! Pros: GREAT FOR THE FAMILY!! Cons: ONLY IN URBANDALE, WE LIVE IN CARROLL!! BUT WILL TRAVEL TO EAT THERE!! more

Fun and Tasty! 9/20/2006

The food is the terrific! Great twists on favorites. Milkshakes are a must. Waitstaff is excellent! A great place for parties and celebrations. Love the music, the decor and theme. Cool retro - working jukebox and all kinds of memorabilia. If you are in the mood for diner fare, can't think of none better! Pros: Fun and interesting for all ages, great food. Cons: There is only one and it's in Iowa (and I'm not)! more

Fun theme 9/20/2006

We had a great time at this restaurant. Very kid friendly, and an exceptionally entertaining and happy place. It's diner food but better: you can have good balsamic vinegar with your salad, for example, and the quality is excellently fresh. The kids got their fries in little 50's paper cars. It's popular and full of people, but with hardworking staff in period dress, it feels like a cozy place from times gone by. more

Good all around dining experience 9/20/2006

Stella's is great, whether you want a quick lunch or dinner for the family. It is where I also go when I am in the Des Moines area. The food is good and the waitstaff is friendly and eager to please. It is a great spot for kids' birthday parties. Stella's is like a celebration all the time, with its wonderful retro look. I highly recommend it. Pros: Great for kids. Lots of parking. Good food and service. Cons: I can't think of any. more

More than a meal, it's a show! Real homemade comfort food in authentic 50's style! 9/19/2006

Delicious comfort food - meatloaf, hot turkey plate & great burgers with any topping you like and their famous Neutron sauce (spicy cheese sauce) and yummy desserts. Black & white checkered floors, real jukebox that spins 45's not CD's, authentic 1950's antiques and those chrome tables and chairs with sparkly seats like your grandparents house. They even have a photo machine to get a strip of 4 fun pictures - color or B&W - as a keepsake. Pros: Nonsmoking family fun and fun servers who like kids young and old Cons: Only location is in Urbandale, Iowa more
