Even before I had a kid of my own, I have always been the kind of person to seek out a toy store whenever visiting a new place. I've seen toy stores all across the country and have a few favorite toy websites, but by and far my favorite is Stellabella Toys in Cambridge.
The store specializes in quality developmental toys. This is not the place to go for loud, battery-operated gizmos. It is the perfect place to go for beautiful wooden puzzles, classy baby gifts, great outdoor toys (from the standard soccer ball to the crowd- pleasing Stomp Rocket), building toys (lots of Legos and a great Playmobil selection), cooperative learning games, a fine selection of picturee books and chapter books, musical instruments for kids and the like.
The store is spacious and has an enormous selection. The staff is very helpful and will gladly offer up gift suggestions for any age. It is the ideal place to pick up a unique gift for any child. I have found a number of good presents for adults there as well. An added bonus is the free do-it-youself gift wrap station, so you can stop by Stellabella's on your way to a birthday party.
Lastly, what makes Stellabella really special is the store's "community classroom" where a large range of activites are held such as: free Saturday sing-a-longs, New Parent's Coffee Hour, arts and crafts activities for kids, even Pilates for adults. You can stay updated on all the latest activities at Stellabella through the store's seasonal newsletter.
Some may say that Stellabella Toys is pricey; I would counter that the stores prices are reasonable when compared to other non-chain toystores. The toys are top quality and not simply in a way that is appealing to adults, but also to kids.
