Great restaurant, great location for a private party 10/2/2011

We held our wedding rehearsal dinner at Stella Maris and everything was perfect. The prices were extremely reasonable, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the restaurant itself looked beautiful. The staff was very accommodating and easy to work with. I don't understand why they're not more crowded, because it's a really good value for Manhattan and a really great place! We'll definitely be coming back for dinner. more

I have never had a bad experience with Stella which is certainly why I find myself coming back so often. My most recent visit I tried something different - the roasted half chicken provencal - it was delicious! more

Delicious Food..Great Service 2/25/2011

I really enjoy coming to Stella's whether its for dinner or drinks during happy hour. They have a great Caesar salad and the skirt steak with chimichurri sauce is amazing for 20 bucks. Service is top notch more

Amazing Bistro 1/24/2011

Stella Manhattan has come a long way. Came here for the first time in over a year last week. The food was outstanding and so fresh. Ambiance is chic but not pretentious. I can assure you I won't be waiting that long again to come back! more

Awesome food...Great Service 3/9/2009

I've been dropping sporadically for the last 6 months and I must say the food is FANTASTIC. We've never had a bad meal there. The raw bar is great; they make great fresh cheese puffs; and the entrees are imaginative and outstanding. Even their weekend brunch menu is great. Attentive service and reasonably priced for Manhattan. A MUST for anyone in the Seaport area!!! more

I live and work downtown and have been there before and keept coming back for their incredible seafood and fish dishes...but they now renovated the entire place and looks trendy... congrats to whom hire the bartenders Pros: amazing food, friendly service Cons: could get crowded on weekends more

We live right upstairs and come here probably 3 times a week for drinks and/or dinner. We have never once in the last year of going had a bad experience, the place is fantastic! We are always treated fantastic and always get excellent service - not to mention excellent meals. Our server always gives us the scoop on what is on special and it is always fantastic! Fried Brie? Does it get any better than this? LOVE it! Pros: Scallops, Raw Bar, Sunday Brunch, Great Specials Cons: None in nearly 100 x's of going! more

Great seafood 3/13/2008

Great seafood. Professional service. Delightful in the summer to sit out on the sidewalk in Front street and enjoy their appetizers, raw bar and some crisp white wine. The wine list could use more affordable options. There was a pushy hostess who isn't around much anymore; she was often pushing the meat dishes for some reason, but we have preferred the seafood. Amazing Food 2/26/2008

I went to Stella Maris for the first time this week. The restaurant was recommended to me by some friends. I had an amazing experience. I am usually not a wine drinker but the waiters suggestion made it hard to refuse and i am glad i didn't it was a great white wine very light and fruity (can't remember the name). For dinner i had the scallops which were sooooo delicious and huge. My fiancee had the Boneless ribs they were so tender. I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. I will definitely be back. Pros: food Cons: i didn't try this place sooner!!! more

Rude and Arrogant. 12/30/2007

The food was horrendous and the service was horrible. They over charge for such horrible food and service. I would rather have gone to burger king, they are friendlier there. The place felt cold and the manager seemed too proud as if we were being looked down upon. The place was empty but it takes a long time for the waiters to even come our way. The review before when they say the owner comes to greet is false. They seem to proud for their own good. In all, I had a horrible time there. I will never step foot in there again. Worst place in NYC. Cons: everything. more

I just moved here and it's not my first time with Irish food. The food was ok...but no where near as good as my usual. the waiter was very slow (and it wasn't that crowded). I explained to him that the person I was with was allergic to onions and he forgot on one of the dishes to tell us that there were onions. When we got the dish...we told the waiter about the problem and he said it was his fault, the kitchen screwed it up...but then didn't do anything about it. Not very accommodating...didn't try and make things right. more

Stella Maris is the perfect sized restaurant that provides warmth and intimacy. Charming, the owners seem to take care and time in chatting with the customers. Have been here on numerous occasions and the food has never disappointed. The bar provides a great atmosphere for mingling but sizeable enough for impromptu dining. With so many eating establishments to choose from, it's refreshing to find one that is unpretentious and lacking the ""dramas"" of other places of equal size. I am definitely a fan and urge others to check this place out as well. You won't be disappointed! Pros: Down-to-earth yet delicious food; great drinks selection. Cons: The parking but I don't drive. more

Dissapointing 12/10/2007

I really don't see what the big deal is. Unless there is another one out there. This one by the Seaport is not all that. I've had better Scottish food at a pub joint. I ordered the chicken and it was flavorless and bland cost almost $20. The oysters we're grainy. Overall, not a great experience! Cons: food, no flavor at all whatsoever more

Previous review is false---try this place! 11/12/2007

This last review is ridiculous, obviously written by someone with a very personal issue with this place. I have been to Stella Maris several times for happy hour with co-workers and have always been greeted by hostess, then manager, then the owners themselves--who couldn't be nicer people. Arrogant?? You won't find that here. The raw bar is wonderful, the wine and suggestions are always great. As far as dinner, I've only had the steak which was outstanding. This is a really great spot for after-work drinks/apps, a good crowd & lively music, like the relaxed but classic decor as well. Again, staff has always been wonderful to our crew. Pros: Very friendly staff, raw bar, all of the food, good wine. Cons: haven't found one yet. more
