I have been to Steelhead four times and twice the service has been absolutely hostile. Compared to BJ's the beer is weak, the food is average and the service awful. more

This place has some good items and some not so good items on their menu. The best thing they serve is their calamari. It is soooooooo good, and they give you a huge platter for only 9.99. It comes with several dipping sauces and huge pieces of soft tender calamari that are not over fried. As you can tell I really love the calamari. There salads are okay, but nothing to write home about. They have a delicious spicy pasta that I love, but can't remember the name. Their mixed drinks are okay and slightly over priced. But if you like beer, go for their sampler which is the best bang for your buck. They also give monthly tours of their micro brewery. It costs 5 dollars I think and you get to taste lots of beer. They have live entertainment and lots of tv's to keep you busy. Overall nice place to chill with friends or first date. more

Their microbrews are usually pretty good. If you can't make up your mind, go for the sampler, which has six shots of their brews. The food is good too -- a little expensive -- but they have huge portions. Approx $20/person for food and drink. more

Here we have one of the only bars in Irvine -- and conveniently located within walking distance of the perpetually hard-working student population of UCI. If you go there on your birthday they give you a free slice of tasty cake; but that would hardly make up for the suprisingly mediocre food. The meat (our party ordered chicken and beef dishes) was really dry, which is extremely disappointing considering the prices you pay. And food that was cooked correctly, well, just didn't taste that good (I'd blame some questionable herb & spice combinations). Karl Strauss, Newport Brewing Co., The Yardhouse, BJs...they're all better options! I have heard from others, however, that Steelhead's pizza is good. The fries, too, were fairly decent. If I were forced to return, I'd limit myself to those particular foods. more
