Wondrful Place to Go! 10/7/2005

If you love trains then this is the place to go!! Their prices are average which and you can pay to take train rides. It’s really a fun place to take your whole family to. They have a lot of different things to do there. My family always enjoys going to the Steamtown National Historic Site. I highly recommend it! more

This is a museaum and actual working railroad site where you can tour and visit. It is $6.00 a person for the adult. You go thru and can climb on trains, work pullys and levers and actually touch the trains. They also take you for a 15 minute ride in a train , Included witht eh price of admission, They tell you all about the town of scrantona dn how the train worked in the older days more

Train lovers and more 8/30/2005

This is an interesting and historical site for both train lovers and people who would like to learn more about this part of PA history. I always bring friends and relatives here from out of town for a tour of the steam locomotives. They provide a lot of information, such as the history of the trains and how a steam locomotive works. I have also been on the fall folliage tour a couple of times which had terrific views of PA countryside and was very relaxing. It is $6 to enter the site. The excursions are a little expensive at $25 each but I think this is definately worth the cost. more

Full steam ahead 8/26/2005

I visited with a friend from Philadelphia to Steamtown that really enjoys trains. He was very skeptical on whether he would enjoy this site after the long drive. They have been back several times with their friends, because they enjoyed it so much. The site houses several steam locomotives and offers such rides as a fall foliage tour through the Pocono mountains on a steam train. The prices for the rides can be a little steep, but even so, friends from NY have come to take it and have all enjoyed it. It is a very educational experience, and could be used to teach anyone about the history of the steam train. more
