Two major Yakima venues are housed on this large fairground. The 35,000 multipurpose stadium plays host to the minor-league Yakima Bears; it's also used as an entertainment venue during the annual Central Washington State Fair, held each year in September. The Yakima Sun Dome, which seats 7,500 to 8,000, is also here. Just outside the fairgrounds proper is a horse racetrack called Yakima Meadows, which has racing from November through March and simulcast wagering the rest of the year.

This 140-acre fairground is approximately the same size as the Puyallup fair site. The attendance numbers, however, are vastly different: Puyallup draws more than 1 million people to its grounds while the Yakima festivities usually bring in about 330,000 during its nine-day stretch.
