I have been riding at Starlight Stables on and off since 1995 and my daughter has been riding there for the last 4 years. We have had a wonderful experience at this stable. The owners' philosophy is to learn to ride well while having a lot of fun. She will break up the lesson with something fun such as a short trail ride or a game. This is good for both the horse and the rider mentally and helps to improve the riders' skill. (see Horse and Rider, May 2009 ""From Rails to Trails..."") Starlight Stables does not have an indoor arena and sometimes the weather is a problem, but the owner makes every effort to reschedule the missed lesson. The school horses are very well mannered and have either been raised and trained from foals or carefully selected for their job by the owner. Even the more challenging mounts are gentle, capable, safe, and easy to learn from. I think this is a true testament to the owners' knowledge and horsemanship. Starlight Stables is perfect for beginners and for advanced riders wanting to improve their skills while having a great time learning. It is not a stuffy show barn with endless arena work and high competition. It is a safe, friendly stable where a person can learn not only to ride but how to care for horses. I recommend both the lessons and the summer camps at this stable. Happy riding!!
