While we understand that we may not be the right studio for everyone, it still saddens us to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with Starlight Photography. We offer a variety of portrait sessions that vary in duration and always ask if there is anything else the client would like before their session ends. \r \r Our presentation/order appointments usually take approximately an hour and a half, although larger groups and multiple families can take longer. For this reason, we always allow extra time in our schedule to ensure that our customers do not feel rushed. \r \r We offer a wide selection of portrait styles, sessions, packages and finishes. Because of this we do not have prices posted in the lobby, as it could quickly become confusing. Prices are always available upon request and a consultant will take the time to explain the different finishes and answer any questions a client may have. \r \r In the rare instance when a client does not have the time to review pricing information in advance of their session or presentation appointment, we always inform them of package options and average order sizes to avoid any type of “sticker shock”. We have packages starting as low as $149, and an ala carte price list allowing clients to create their own package. There is never a minimum order, so clients can invest whatever their budget allows. \r \r Clients who initially considered displaying an 8x10 may decide to invest in a larger portrait during their presentation once they are able to appreciate the beauty of their portrait as shown in the various sizes available.\r \r Our staff is dedicated to educating our clients about their options as well as helping them find the perfect portraits for placement in their home. Be sure and ask questions BEFORE you book a photo shoot. The scam is that you do a 45 minute quickie shoot and come back later for a greuling 3 hour presentation that is confusing and very controlled. Note there are no pricing brochures anywhere in lobby, but you will be given the sticker shock at the end of the 3 hour ""presentation"" and wonder why you wasted your time. You'll nearly need to take out a line of credit for this photographer if you want any of the photos. Serious money here. Photos are nice, but way overpriced. I began taking my daughter to Starlight Photography when she was one month old...now, nearly 16 years later, she is still doing photos of her. The studio is very beautiful and unique. Tammi is able to capture amazing poses...and they turn out so perfect. She is the most talented photographer I have had the honor to work with. Starlight Photography is for those who really want to have a professional artist take their photos. The quality, creativity and precision Tammi offers, and then produces, puts her up there in my book with the best of the best. I have had a few photo sessions with her myself and some with my kids, and now with my Grandkids and have always had an enjoyable and pleasurable experience. The work is impeccable and beautiful. This is not a point and shoot type of studio, this is a professional studio with a professional artist who does amazing work. Pros: Beautiful photography, has many awards on her studio walls. My experience was also rushed and uncomfortable. We had one hour to complete all our shots and when the timer went off our photo session was over, even though we had not completed all the requested shots. (we had 12 people in our group including children so one hour flies by quickly). \r \r When we showed up to view our photos projected to the wall, the experience was uncomfortable. It is hard to compare photos when you flash through them quickly and can't see them side by side, so we did our best to choose photos that we though we all looked good in. She kept offering to ""edit"" the photos, but turns out there is a hefty charge for that. There was a big push to order wall portraits, which is something that I wanted until I looked at the price list and was horrified to see they start at $1,000. \r \r I ended up ordering a couple 8x10s at $79.99 each. Don't worry though, if you order 5 you get one free. Thats $400 for 6 pictures. It took 3 months for her to deliver the 8x10s and we are not able to order more in the future as she does not save your images. (and you are not able to purchase the proofs)\r \r There are some great photographers in the Portland area that actually provide value for your money. I was so excited to go get my toddler?s photos taken at a 'real studio'. Boy was I mistaken! We've done countless studio sessions at many other local dept store places, as well as Picture People in the mall. But WOW! I won't ever go back or recommend Starlight to anyone. The photographer is so full of herself & the studio was so unwelcoming & NOT child friendly. They'd advertised a children's studio special done in a wonderland theme... sounds lovely right? It wasn't. She was unfriendly, rude, impatient, & virtually everything (costumes, props, background, etc) in the studio couldn't be touched by my 16 month old (not kid-friendly). What an unpleasant experience. I was told, after the photos were taken, that pictures (although they are digital) could only be viewed once, & she wouldn't guarantee that she'd keep them on file for any length of time if I wanted to reorder. There are no proofs printed or online viewings to take home & show friends/family. I had to schedule the viewing appointment a week later (did I mention that they're digital?) & the entire viewing was an uncomfortable sales pitch. Photos were displayed on a huge projector screen, so it was almost impossible to truly see each photo & compare the details before ordering. She really must not want business because she makes things so unreachable & overpriced that the whole experience was just ridiculous. It's been 7 weeks since ordering & I just called to get the status. They apparently JUST came in today... I'm sure they are beautiful but yikes. For the outrageous package prices offered, I could only afford to buy two poses, and my order totaled almost $350. The cheapest package is $249 for one pose! I think I ended up ordering 1 8x10, 3 5x7s and a few wallets. OUCH! I've had fantastic service at other local places & I'll be delighted to give them my money in the future instead.
