I went to Stanford Home Center today to pick up a garbage can that was on hold for me. I had gone to the store a few weeks ago to purchase a garbage can as advertised in a flier and there were no garbage cans at that time but I was told I could put my name on a list and a can would be held for me. So today I recieved a call telling me the can was available and I drove over to the store. When I arrived at the store I went to the lawn and garden center as I was instructred. Whereas no one was available I pushed the assistance button and a speaker announced, customer needs assistance in lawn and garden. I waited around for several minutes and when no one arrived I went to the check out area. I waited in line for the only available clerk. When it was my turn in line, I advised the clerk why I was there. She told me to go to lawn and garden. I told her I had been there and pushed the button and no one came so I asked her to call me when someone could retrieve my garbage can and left the store. As I was waiting to pull out of the parking lot, I called the store and spoke with the only available clerk again. She indicated someone was now in lawn and garden so, I parked the car and went back into the store. The man in lawn and garden said the garbage cans were not set aside for those who put there name on the list but were out on the sales floor for anyone to purchase. I left the store without buying the can. I will take my business elsewhere.
