In February of 2006, I made my first visit to Hearts and Hands when I was just shy of five months pregnant. My husband and I were looking for a center in which we could feel comfortable with. Hard enough as it is to think of not being with your child 24/7, we had to make the choice of putting some of the care to our unborn child into someone else?s hands. With that in mind we wanted a place that felt like home. Upon walking into Hearts and Hands, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff members. They say first impressions can last a lifetime and for me that first impression had melted my heart. Their philosophy is that each infant is different and therefore their schedules/routines vary. When a baby is hungry, they eat, if tired, they sleep. Many other centers put infants on the schedule that is easier for the entire ""group"", which is great when they reach a certain age, but for an infant it is necessary for ?them? to be in charge. It was important for us to have a home away from home for God?s child in which I was carrying and this seemed like the place that could carry this out. Now, with two children attending Hearts and Hands and three years later, we look back on that very important decision and thank the Lord for guiding us to this child development center. They truly care for and develop a childs social, cognitive, and spiritual development, while keeping in mind their individual temperment and specific needs.
