The Diabetes Care Center works with individuals with diabetes and their families so they can learn skills needed to manage their disease.. We offer individual and group classes covering: Overview of diabetes,Self-management skills,Medications,Meal planning,Carbohydrate counting and label reading,Physical activity and diabetes,Monitoring blood sugars,Problem solving,Complications and prevention,Risk reduction,Goal setting,Insulin pump therapy,Insulin therapy,Gestational diabetes (pregnancy and diabetes).
Those at risk for developing diabetes include:
* Those with a parent or sibling with diabetes
* Those over 40 years old
* Women having a baby weighing nine pounds or more
* Women with gestational diabetes
* Those who are overweight
* Those who exercise very little
* Those of Native American,Hispanic,African American,Asian or Pacific Island descent
