St. Mary of Gostyn is one of several Roman Catholic parishes in Downers Grove. My wife and I prefer this church because they offer a Sunday evening Mass for weekends when we want to sleep late. During the Sunday night Mass, we often see young people serving as readers, cantors, and EMs, which is a nice change of pace. Both street and lot parking is available. more

Friendly Church 1/29/2006

Although St. Mary of Gostyn isn't my family's parish, we often attend their Sunday evening Mass when our schedule permits. The congregation is very friendly, and we are made to feel as though we belong. The parish has a very "young" feel to it, with many youth taking an active part in the liturgy. With St. Mary's in the neighborhood and a wonderful 5 pm Mass, there's no excuse for missing Mass by saying that you slept in. more
