An Active Parish 3/9/2011

For over 30 years, I have found St Joseph's to be a kind and welcoming parish, where members actively practice their faith, taking the word "Worker" literally. The paster adheres to the church teachings of social justice. This is reflected in parishoners' running of the local food pantry, help to Oxford House,Francis House, Eastern Farm Workers, after school tutoring, to name a few.I like the way this is not the church of my youth, where all you did was sit in the pew. Now parishoners can,if they choose, have a role in shaping the church and living their faith. There is also a very strong Religious education program for children and adults, along with socializing opportunites too. more

Does Not Teach Proper Catholic Teaching 7/18/2010

I have spent 3 years in this church total. I left if the first two years, went to another church, then came back last year. I have learned about the faith and I wanted to see if they had changed because this church is closer for me. I prefer Immaculate Heart of Mary, Liverpool, but I do not drive. It was hard for 6 six years to travel every Sunday for only one mass. I thought maybe this church had changed. This Pastor does not adhere to catholic teaching. He is really awful doing a homily. Maybe he forgot, but he has made several remarks against the Vatican. This Parish needs to be purged and new blood with the correct Catholic Teaching. Sorry, but it's true. more

Protestant church 3/1/2010

We attended Mass here when staying with friends. It was dreadful. there was no sense of dignity, the preaching was pathetic, and the pastor's prediential style was utterly without reverence or love for the liturgy. We went to the Cathedral the next day for real Catholic worship. more

I love this Church 2/2/2010

St. Joseph the Worker was a woderful find for my family when we moved to Liverpool in 2007. The children's mass, the religious education program, the choir are all faboulous. But hands down, Father Charlie and Mon. Haggerty are wonderful spiritual leaders who emphasis the teachings of Christ in a manner that touches me at every service. We are so blessed to have found this Church! more

Sad Place 12/31/2009

This is a sad place where people seem half dead in the pews... it has totally lost its Catholic identity,,, it feels more like going to a stage play than the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass more

A house divided 10/14/2009

This is an ageing parish run by a priest who is a dead hand on the tiller. Key personnel have been fired and the gospel no longer rules. This is a dying parish whose resurrection will only come when the current pastor is gone. more

St Joseph's Catholic Church 8/7/2005

St. Joseph's is a very nice church in the village of Liverpool. St. Joseph's made me feel very welcome when I first moved to the area, and I was immediately involved in the church. The priest is outstanding, never making me feel like a sinner or making me feel like I should throw my money to the church. If you are travelling to Syracuse this is a very nice church to visit. more
