A modern spin 3/10/2006

If you're looking for a new spin on the Catholic liturgy of the Mass, then this parish might just be for you. The church itself is very open and lofty with a ton of natural light (which I liked). However, I couldn't locate the tabernacle, which I see as a problem. The Mass was very unique in that it utilized jazzy versions of hymns and incorporated a TON of jazz flute. Interesting? Yes. Worth going back? Umm..., this Catholic can only take so much jazz flute in one Mass. more

St. Joseph Catholic Church 2/24/2006

St. Joseph is a Roman Catholic parish located in Downers Grove. The church is very, very modern in design, so fans of traditional church architecture would not be happy. At the few Masses we attended here, there was a jazz choir, and the music was pleasant but hard to follow. There was a lot for parking adjacent to the church, but it filled up pretty quickly. more
