I am a retired medical doctor and make several trips to my personal physicians at St. John's Medical Plaza every other month or so. I used to pick up my medications from the pharmacy located in the lobby. However, I started to notice that Nancy, the head pharmacist was mean and nasty to her staff and sometimes customers. Sick patients need compassion, not to be yelled at or treated with disrespect. I found that Walgreens just up on the corner of Wilshire and 20th fostered a friendlier and more relaxing environment and was just as convenient. Further Walgreens is clean and organized - not so with the the pharmacy at 1301 Twentieth Street. Nancy's staff is disorganized and I always felt the need to make sure my medications were not mixed up. While it is true that Nancy will find hard to find scripts, the same hold true for CVS or Walgreens and both of the later offer easy online refill options and better pricing. Walgreens offered free flu shots to children and seniors and give back to the community. They are most caring and knowledgable people. I do not have health insurance and my medications are very expensive. The pharmacist ( Nancy) helped me locate a rare drug for me and sold it to me at way below what I used to pay. I have transfered all my medications to her pharmacy & I love them. They are the best. The most friendly staff - they go out of their way to help. Anything you can not find in L.A., call Nancy and she will help you. The pharmacist at St Johns are the most helpful, well staffed, and fast pharmacy on the west side. They are very helpful and go far beyond the typical pharmacist in giving personal service, assistance. We all know our doctor can be wishy washy, go out of town or just plain rude. The folks at St. Johns extend every assistance they can when a patient is in need. They understand the doctors occasional nonattendance to your need. They also have a great selection of the hard to find things as well as hard to locate medications. The are the best. more

Nancy, the pharmacist at Saint John's Medical Plaza Pharmacy is very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. The staff is also very warm and attentive. Their selection of medication is much for extensive than one would imagine. But the variety of other stuff they have always blow me away: great Diabetic section and not to mention classy hair-pins, and unique gift items. The pharmacy at Saint John's Medical Center is not only convenient in that it's located on the first floor of the 2001 Santa Monica Blvd building, but it's also very quick.
