I gave birth to my son at St. John. While in Labor & Delivery, a nurse drew up a cardiac medication, which was given to me by mistake. I had a respiratory arrest and died. I had to be resuscitated, and my baby was taken by C-Section, and born dead. He had to be resuscitated too, and then admitted to NICU for 5 days. I was an intensive care nurse at St. John when this happened. They lied to me about what they did, and said that my ""epidural went up on me"". I notified everyone I could, including Sister Theresa, the CEO of St. John, and nothing was ever done. Two years after my son was born, I was back at St. John for a breast biopsy. At that time, I was finally told the REAL story of what happened. The anesthologist told me there was a medication error made. I asked, and asked and asked what happened the day my baby was born, and they lied, and lied and lied. The hospital lied, my doctor lied, the NICU lied.... and they all knew the truth. There was nothing in my medical records or in my baby's medical records that indicated what had happened. When my son was about 4, I was talking to a labor and delivery nurse who worked at St. John. I met her at a soccar game. She was actaully there the day I was given epinephrine by mistake. She told me that the whole thing was hush, hush. What a mess. I am still traumatized years after the event.
Pros: I worked there for 13 years, but left when I discovered the ""cover up""
Cons: If they make a mistake, they will cover it up. Not honest.
