Please do not take your fur babies to this clinic. We chose this clinic because we were new to the area and it was close to our home. I have a 1 year old cat who is now within days of dying. I took him in to be neutered and now a week later he is unable to eat or drink. My cat was healthy, always full of energy and has been an indoor cat since he was born. 3 days Post Op my cat started puking yellow bile and was unable to eat or drink. I call the clinic and they tell me its no charge for a recheck and to bring him in. Now our first visit for the neutering they quoted me one price then charged me even more when I picked him up. I was upset but was just happy he made it thru surgery etc. Now I take him for the recheck and they cant figure out what is going on. The vet wants to start with an xray and rule out blockages etc. He tells me todays visit will run between $200-230. I just paid over $200 for the surgery less than a week ago but my cat hasnt ate in 3-4 days so I say ok because I cant stand to see an animal becoming lifeless by the moment. I arrive back to pick up my cat and now have to pay $312 and wait on blood work. I question the charges and the lack of answers for a healthy cat before surgey and now he is barely hanging on. So then I have to speak to their director, who is a Quack!! I don't think the man has any medical background. I'm a nurse and it doesnt take a genius to see something from surgery has caused a problem. Poor cat is dehydrated, lost weight, cant keep anything down and this director is going to tell me that infections can not happen from surgery?! Are u kidding me??? So then I tell him Ive done my own research and brought up the fact that some animals do not handle anesthesia well which can result in liver and kidney damage/failure. He tells me that he thinks my cat has feline leukemia and I should test him for that. Well if you do your research feline leukemia has nothing to do with surgery, nor does puking up yellow bile and being unable to eat. It also doesn't make a cat lifeless in a matter of a couple of days. He tells me he can refund my blood work charges and I can go to my old vet which is over an hour away. I told him you have already taken my cats bloodwork and Ive already paid so what I expect is for your to do your job and provide quality care. We just want answers so we can help our cat. I could tell from our conversation he doesnt give a crap about anyone's animals. He flat out told me he has tons of patients (animals) and losing one doesnt matter. Well it matters to ME because I love animals and I will not stand behind someone who thinks its ok to throw away a life. It may be one cat to him but to me thats a family member! I see some of the good reviews have been families with dogs...well Im glad you guys had a great experience but I wish everyone would take a moment and think how you would feel if this happened to you. If your animal was hanging on for life and the director of the clinic is only worried about making another dollar and sees animals as expendables. more

If you love your animal DON'T bring your animal here! I used to work there for a few weeks before I couldn't take it any longer. The owner is more worried about how he can make more money than help your pet. In surgery he doesn't use sterile gloves and has used what I believe is fishing line as suture. Your animal is sedated and the whole procedure isn't monitored by any tech nor are they watched when they recover. I got yelled at once for trying to set a larger dog down in the run. I was supposed to literally dump them off the cart so they fell in the cage! Also doing the dental I would have 15 mins to finish it. If the animal was waking up before I was done I was told to just clean what the owner would see and leave the rest. I was also told to just say that the animals had fleas even if they didn't because ""they should be on meds anyways"" and lie to the owners. They were also using drugs expired by over a year and antibiotics that soldiers coming back from a deployment didn't use for your pet. He would actually ask them if they had any left if he heard they just got back! It may be cheaper but you do not get what you pay for! more

St B is the worst place you can go to. Dr. Whitford is all about money not quality. In the last 2 yrs. he has lost at least maybe 10 vets because he treats people like dirt. He is so lazy he does not even update who his vets are. Dr. Botzman,, Dr. Wicks, Dr. Dan, and Dr. Whitley are no longer there. Dr. Whitley told me his happiest day was when he told Dr. Whitford he was leaving. I had a cat that needed his teeth removed Dr. Whitford quoted me 1200.00 whereas another vet quoted a dental which was 150.00. Dr. Whitford is the most expensive place in town. Most other vets in town have nothing nice to say either. The only thing that has kept him in business was his vets that work for him like Dr. Whitley. But his other vets can do nothing about the prices. more

HORRIBLE!!!!! 9/13/2014

I took my pets to St. Bethlehem Animal Clinic to have my female dogs spayed. This Clinic offers a low cost spay/neuter program for $50 per pet. I advised prior to coming that one of my girls was in heat, and they informed me there was an additional charge because of it. The fee is an additional $25. I was informed if I could have my pets at their office by 10am, the procedure could be completed on both pets that day. \r \r I arrived and met with a Vet tech that performed an examination on both dogs, and then wrote up a complete list of charges. I was also advised by the staff that both dogs are a high risk breed (Shih Tzu ) for anesthesia so there would be additional cost. After everything was totaled, the final bill was $269.85. I paid the bill in full and left my pets in their care. \r \r About 2 hours later, I received a call from Kristy Dalton (the surgical tech) to inform me there would be additional charges for Snicker’s procedure (the dog in heat) and that it could be inc more

ST B 9/28/2013

I wanted to ad something to my other review the only thing that keeps St B open is Dr. Whitford's kind veternarian's he himself does not know the meaning of the work kindness he is only interested in the mighty dollar. Dr. Whitford sent me this e-mail\r By the way all vets are losing money from their\r personal compensation fund especially Dr. \r Whitley for letting you do this so you have really\r hurt them as much as the clinic that is their \r payment for trying to be nice to you.\r \r I admit his office gave me alot of credit but I make at least 3 payments per month even though he is refusing me my animals files. I could get nasty and cancel my checks but I will pay him every penny because I will not lower myself to his level. I have filed a complaint with the vet licensing board about my files. It came to my attention about another lady who too took her dog out o more

Don't go to St B wrong choice 9/12/2013

I agree with what another person about what they said about Dr. Whitford they described him as arrogant and self-absorbed, intimidating and narrow-minded so true. I had been with St B for several yrs. They gave me credit I would pay it off do again pay it off and so on. I have never bounced a check or left them holding a dime. In fact Kathy his wife had put me on cash only wasn't the 1st time. Well a few days later I got a call from St B telling me my cash business was no longer wanted either. In fact Dr. Whitford was so arrogant he refuses to give my files to my new vet even though some of my pets have health issues then he turned his anger on all vets and told them they were losing part of their compensation ( money ) for being nice to me especially Dr. Whitley. Well his office staff approved the credit and my post dated checks yet they blamed every vet even though they do not handle the billing dept. Several vets have left him because of the way that clinic is run. Dr. Whitford told more

Thanks Dr. Whitley 2/11/2013

I was floored when I walked into this practice. It is amazing and the people are vet friendly. Dr. Whitley came in and seen us on an emergency after hours. This was the only practice that I found that would even come in after hours. We are fortunate he did because I have no doubt our little dog would have died. Thank you Dr. Whitley we will be seeing you soon. more

Great place to take your pet 3/27/2012

After I had a bad experience at another boarding kennel I went for a tour of St. Bethlehem's boarding and it was so nice. They said every room has a seperate ventilation system to help prevent odor and disease. It was great, all of the dogs in their boarding looked happy and well cared for. My dog is older and gets a little nervous, she stayed in a room called serenity that is only for pets that like to have it very quiet, we were very pleased after her stay. We will be back. more

St. Bethlehem Animal Clinic 2/10/2012

St. Bethlehem animal clinic is AMAZING! I just recently moved to the area and I was looking for a new vet to bring my puppy to and I have now found it. The Vets at this clinic are so professional, dedicated, and well worth the extra 25 minutes I have to drive to get there. The prices are also a plus! I took my puppy to get spayed and I was quoted a great price before she had the surgery and to my amazement when I picked up my “Lucy” later that day the price was even lower. To have such quality of care at such great prices guarantees me to keep bringing my pet back! I would refer anybody and everybody to this clinic? more

Review on St. B's Animal Clinic 6/12/2011

There was a time when I would never have dreamed of going to a different animal clinic. I loved St. B's. There were two vets in particular with whom I had established a close relationship. Both of them are gone now for reasons which I am not at liberty to discuss. I have an older kitty whose diabetes was in remission or had simply gone away. (It was the two above mentioned veterinarians who treated her back to health). Recently she developed some sort of skin infection on her tummy. One young vet treated her and would not give her a cortisone shot for the itching (because of the history of diabetes), but rather gave her oral meds and a topical spray to try to help the problem. When I took her back for a recheck, the young lady vet followed along with the first vet, but left the exam room to check with Dr. Whitford about the cat's problem. He came in and completely disregarded what had been done previously. He put her on a 'high powered' antibiotics and gave her that first cortisone shot - for itching. She seemed to get better for a couple of days, but within a week she was back to bleeding from a badly bruised-looking belly- after she licked the area because of the itching. Her skin had beome tissue thin and blood was pooling right beneath the surface. I took her back to Dr. Whitford who tried to dismiss the problem by telling me she was allergic to fleas. I had treated all the cats with Frontline, and used a flea comb on them, and could not find evidence of any fleas. On my last visit up there, Whitford tried brushing her fur to get 'flea dirt' off of her, and found a couple of little black specks - which did resemble flea dirt. He moistened a q-tip and tried to prove it was flea dirt. Flea dirt will look red (from blood the fleas suck off the animal) when moistened. Neither black dot turn red. Whitford insisted they did and told me I had a flea problem. Having tired of Whitford's 'diagnosis' (no blood work had been done on my cat to determine whether she had any infection going on), and seeing no improvement after his prescription of another round of antibiotics and a second cortisone shot, I decided to look for one of the vets who had left. I found her and, because of the two cortisone shots Whitford gave my cat, the diabetes has returned; there is no allergice reaction to fleas (because there are no fleas); and the problem has deteriorated to a serious problem. My 'new' vet is taking excellent care of her having taken her home for the weekend to watch her carefully. Of course, now she has to have insulin shots. I would not take anything back to that clinic as long as it is under Whitford's supervision/ownership. His sloppy care of my cat is evidence of a dereliction of his responsibility as a credible veterinarian. He is arrogant and self-absorbed, intimidating and narrow-minded. The decline of the clinic is so very, very sad. As I said above, I used to brag about the clinic and refer friends to it. I'm sorry for that now. If i could give less than one star, I would. more

Excellent Vet's Office 12/17/2010

St Bethlehem Animal Clinic is AMAZING! I recently moved here and didn't know where to go with my sick dog. When I found out they accept walk-ins at certain times, I was so excited. Its always so hard to get into a vets office and this is so convenient!\r \r Every time we go there, we have a great experience. Our dog had pancreatic cancer and had to be put down and they were the most understanding staff I have ever encountered. Not only did they offer the choice of cremation, they called me several times, sent me cards from the vets and office staff, and always cared about our concerns and answered any questions. \r \r I have since been back with our other dog numerous times and have seen Dr. Whitley, Dr. Timmons, and most recently Dr. Wicks who was more than helpful and understanding.\r \r Thank you to the wonderful people who care about my "children!" more

Wonderful place 3/5/2010

This is a wonderful place. We were experiencing eliminating problems with one of our cats and everyone was incredibly helpful. They gave us tips, suggestions, names of behaviorists, etc. Even the lady who answered the phone was helpful. Unfortunately we had to remove the pet from our home due to this problem and once again the staff was helpful in recommending a safe solution in finding a home. The waiting area is beautiful, everyone is quite friendly. It's a bit expensive but with their high level of customer service and knowledge it's worth every penny! more

Best Animcal Clinic in Clarksville 7/25/2008

St. B Animal Clinic, I would have to say, is the best animal clinic in Clarksville. I just had my boxer spayed and they were great with her. They're very respectful of you and your pet. I couldn't have asked for better service from them. more

The best around 5/1/2008

I just moved here back in Feb from Alaska. We were looking for a vet for my cat, and my husband and I just got a puppy back in march for our son. So I was doing all my homework on all the vets in the area that would be good with my pets. I found Saint Bethlehem Animal Clinic and I just love this vet.. The people are great they answered all my questions that I had on getting a new puppy (have not had one in 7 years) and everything in this area since we came from Alaska and don?t have to worry about flees ,ticks ect.. They were so helpful, the place is so clean, neat, friendly, great with my pets, kid friendly (have toys in the wait area), the Techs/ and doc?s are great.. And I also love that they have many things IE (the pet hotel, cremation on site ect)? Before I decided to take my pets to Saint Bethlehem Animal Clinic they also showed me around the place? more
