St. Anthony's has a full-time cardiologist, Dr. Robert Westerfield, on staff to respond to the growing cardiology needs in our area with customized cardiology care. Services include cardiovascular diagnostics and diabetes services. St. Anthony's provides a full continuum of care in cardiovascular services while increasing its emphasis in cardiovascular services with rehabilitation, health management, and prevention, all important factors in the future of health care.
In addition, St. Anthony's has begun a new cardiac rehabilitation program. This program includes all aspects of cardiac rehabilitation including, heart monitored exercise sessions, risk factor (stress, hypertension, diabetes, etc.) counseling sessions, weight management, wellness training, and nutritional counseling. Cardiac rehabilitation is medical therapy aimed at guiding persons with cardiovascular disease toward and maintaining their optimum physical, psychological, and social functioning. This therapeutic process uses multidisciplinary intervention exercise training, education, stress counseling, nutritional counseling, and other cardiovascular risk reduction approaches to stop and/or reverse the progression of cardiovascular disease through control and modification of cardiovascular risk factors by establishing a healthy lifestyle.
