I just had a terrible experience with Squires. They had a sidewalk sale (final sale) and I saw a pair of shoes for my husband. I took a picture and after he assured me he liked them, I went to the ATM (cash only) and got the money. I obviously could not try the shoes on, in fact, I only saw the right shoe. The sales person got the second shoe, packed in in a box, put the box in the bag, and I left the store. Only later I realized that he never gave me any receipt. So, my husband was very excited when he saw the shoes.... until he put them on! The left shoe (that was not outside on display) was severely defective inside - the lining was all warped and sticking out, making the shoe impossible to wear. So, I took them back the next day (without the receipt). The guys was very reluctant to do anything, he didn't even check the defect of the shoe, told me it is NOT his fault and it is the final sale. As a ""huge"" favor he may give me the store credit. I told him that I never shop in the area (I was there to see my real estate agent) and I cannot use his credit. Any of my arguments that he sold me a pair of defective shoes were met this arrogance : ""it is a final sale. it is clearly stated there!"". I told him if he can give me the same pair but not defective, I will be happy. Of course, he didn't have another pair and he knew very well what he was selling. I ended up getting two pairs for my kids to get that money back. By the way, when I got in the car, I realized that he didn't give me the receipt again! So much for supporting local businesses! Never again I will step my foot into this overpriced, horrible customer-service place!!! I told the guy I will tell all my friends about this and he said :"" as long as you tell the whole story (meaning how nice he was to give me the store credit), he is happy"". So, here I am telling you the whole story, you make your own judgement!
