Spunky Monkey Bar & Grill

Thursday 2/27/14\r Took 2 friends to the Spunky Monkey Restaurant in Auburn, WA, WOW was that a BIG mistake. If there were a negative number I would post it. The restaurant was featured as a “restaurant makeover on restaurant impossible”, so I thought it was going to be inviting “NOT”. \r We walked in and there was no one to greet you, headed to the dining area, where a man in dirty clothes said “it’s closed, go up to the bar” this was at 6:20pm). We went up stairs to the bar, waited to be seated, took a few minutes, (only 5 people in the bar 4 staff members); we were seated in a booth which had a broken table. \r After we ordered, It took the kitchen staff 45 minutes to deliver our meal; I have to give the wait staff credit, a couple of staff members, kept apologizing about the wait.\r I ordered, Beef & Blue Burger (salsa was slimy – scrapped it off) burger was cook per order, BUT the 5 wedges on the plate 2 cooked 3 raw (gross). \r My Friends order the Fish Sandwich, fish was dry, roll seemed to be day old, the other ordered Steak, and it was as tough as shoe leather, veggies over cooked. \r This restaurant is NOT inviting, VERY POOR quality of food preparation and extremely long period of time between order and delivery.\r I paid the bill, because I was so embarrassed about the place I chose for guest. \r I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER! \r I will also be sending the show Restaurant Impossible a CC of this post.\r more

This was the worst food I have eaten in a long time, I ordered a pannini but I don't think the cook knew what that was, even though it was on the menu. It was just meat and cheese between two pieces of bread, very dry, didn't even finish it. Had to eat when we got to the casino. People don't waste your time or money on the food here! From the outside I was concerned that my Wife and I wouldn't be able to bring our 9 year old Son in with us. Kind of has a bar appearance. BUT The sign reads ""Fun for the whole family"" Boy are we glad we gave it a shot.\r \r Very good food, well thought out meals, skillfully prepared, brilliantly presented. Chef, Jeremy, was VERY accomodating and treated us like royality. \r \r Steaks were gooked to perfection. Veggies were a lovely blend of string beans, crook-neck squash, carrots, and red bell peppers. (Not only pleasing to the pallate it was quite pleasing to the eye)\r \r Decor was quite jungle-themed. FUN and you'll notice something new every time you look throughout\r \r Drinks were exotic and tropical.\r \r Price..... outstanding! Two steak dinners, smothered in mushrooms, fabulous ceasar salads. One kids meal including tall lemonade. Two of the house exotic cocktails...... Totaled a very very affordable $57\r \r Would we go back? Oh yeah in fact I would go out of my way to go back.. and since we live in Puyallup it will be out of my way to go there but .......................\r \r I'LL BE BACK! The spunky monkey is a place were you can relax by yourself or with a crowd of people and feel at home. Their comfort food make you glad you picked their resturant. With great and friendly services and fast getting food this is a sure PLUS. Sometimes the prices can get a little high...depends on what you order, but it is well worth it in the end! This is a great place from chillin with friends to first dates to a quick and easy lunchs with your co-workers. Pros: Fun for everyone, Good food Cons: Little pricey more

Spunky Monkey is filled with a kitschy patchwork of jungle-themed decor that makes for a fun and unique experience. The food is very good, though perhaps slightly overpriced. Try the caesar salad, but be aware that it's very garlicky. Pros: Unique Decor, Kid-Friendly Cons: Slightly Overpriced more

Ok, there aren't many...but this is one of them! For a suburb without many decent restaurants, Auburn seems to be enjoying the Spunky Monkey and so am I. Fun drinks, good food, a jungle decor..what more could you want from South King County? Next time someone drags you to the Supermall, try this place for lunch.
