Spot

I have never had an experience at any restaurant as I did at the Spot. I wish I did my research on different sites, and read the horrible reviews this place has. This place is known for smoking hookah, and playing cards. When we came here, that is what we expected to do. It was drizzling, and we immediately asked our waitress, who sat us outside, to move us inside the tented area as soon as a table opens up. She said, of course. Forty five minutes later, after we ordered $70 worth of food, it started to rain hard, and when we asked her to be moved inside, she told us that there was a long wait now. We were shocked to hear this, as we had asked right away to be moved inside. She basically said that that wouldn't happen and if we wanted to, we can leave. It was pretty obvious that she knew we had ordered all our food, and didn't care to accommodate us any any longer. We stayed, smoking hookah, eating and playing cards for another half an hour. All of a sudden, the waitress informs us that the restaurant does not allow cards to be played on a weekend. This was a shock, considering many other tables were playing cards, even the table next to us. Then, the owner came over and told us we have five minutes left. We explained to the owner, that we had taken the cards out as soon as we came in, and have played since before we ordered. Why didn't anyone tell us the policy then, when we still had the option of going somewhere else? The owner said that he was sorry to hear this, and said he would take care of our bill. AS SOON AS WE GOT UP, the owner came right back and said, ""Oh, I didn't know you ate here, too. You have to pay your bill."" When we asked the waitress why she didn't tell us about the no card playing policy, she said she didn't know. This was interesting to hear, considering the owner told us they had this policy for TEN years! We felt duped, and were very upset to come, spend $70, and be lied to and treated so poorly. The Spot only serves its customers before they order food, as soon as you spend your money, you're out of there!!! more

The food was great! The Mint Tea was even better. The hookah was clean. The flavor we choose for the hookah was not the best, next time i'll go with the waitress's suggestion. My friends dragged me to The Spot last weekend, and although I don't smoke, I still had a great time! The place was super crowded and it took 45 minutes for us to get a table but it was worth the wait. We were seated inside under a big tent. There was loud trance music playing and there was a big TV screen playing music videos. The waiter was really nice and took our orders quickly. My friends ordered a hookah called the ""9mm"" and it smelled soooooo good. (I was getting very tempted to try hookah, but maybe next time.) I ordered a big kabob plate and it was mouth-watering. The meat was very juicy and flavorful. My friends ordered chips and guacamole which I liked a lot. The waiter actually made the guacamole right in front of us. It almost felt like we were at Benihana's. I think that was the best guacamole I have ever had and I fully recommend it. When we first arrived at The Spot, the parking was bad but there was an underground lot which had plenty of space. Overall, I liked The Spot and will definitely go back. If not for the Hookah, definitely for the food. I just wish they served alcohol :) Pros: Good Hookah, Good Food, Best Guac, Good Parking Cons: No Alcohol, Long Wait more
