Don't let the Spot's size fool you, this little bar packs a ton of character. Great food and friendly service, the Spot makes me wish I lived in the neighborhood as it seems like...

Great corner neighborhood bar 4/28/2011

Don't let the Spot's size fool you, this little bar packs a ton of character. Great food and friendly service, the Spot makes me wish I lived in the neighborhood as it seems like the kind of place people walk down to and meet up with friends. But I'll still be back a bunch as everyone there was really chill and welcoming. more

not politically correct, and loving it. 1/10/2011

Let's get real here. This is a bar. Real people smoke in bars, unless they were born after 2000. And real people would rather run than get a DUI. Not condoning either activity, mind you, but some people actually grew up before the govt. had to treat us like children, and we were left to make our own decisions. Worked out better that way, trust me. You learned from your mistakes, which is the best way to learn. Good food , service, atmosphere, etc. Have fun in politically correct-ville, you idiots. more

Meh 3/19/2010

Just back from a quick neighborhood dinner. The food is passable (Sysco standard, mostly) but I was put off by how much the place stinks of cigarette smoke. The ""patio"", enclosed because of the bad weather, isn't fully closed off from the rest of the bar and the smoke in here is awful. I haven't come home from a bar stinking of smoke in ages. Next time I'll walk the few extra blocks to go to the Hornet. The food is better and it doesn't smell. Pros: Food is fine Cons: What happened to the smoking ban? more

Fun neighborhood place and pretty good food! 12/13/2009

Always fun on a weekend night - if you want a table make sure you get there on the earlier side. The staff is always quick to make sure your drink is full and their food is quite good...I've had the pulled pork, cole slaw and onion rings - all delicious! Pros: Pulled port, draft beer selection Cons: Parking, wish they had nightly drink specials more

angry vibe with beligerent clientel 8/21/2009

I live across the street and I feel this place is a hazzard. I've witnessed many fights happening here. The nighttime crowd gets out of control on a regular basis. I've even witnessed one of the customers crash his car right after leaving (he was very drunk) and then flee the scene in hopes he wouldn't get a D.U.I. If you're going to go here I'd do it during the day. Pros: good burgers. nice vibe during the day. Cons: angry beligerent people. more

Fun local bar 10/11/2008

I live across the street, and I definitely go quite often. The food is good, not the absolute best burgers in Denver but great for the price. As for the ""parking"" fiasco....there isn't even a parking lot anywhere near the Spot OR Carmine's (the Italian place next door that has the Valets). The person whose vehicle was towed probably parked in a lot that belonged to one of the apartment buildings and took someone's space (this happens to me A LOT). But anyway, I like The Spot, but probably wouldn't travel across town for it. It's a nice, divey, local place with pretty good food. I am sure there's one in everyone's neighborhood. more

great happy hour and nice neighborhood pub....with no vallet parking 12/3/2007

My husband and I really enjoy going to the Spot. It is a nice neighborhood bar and pretty chill except during gametime. The happy hour is great although they don't have a wide beer selection on tap (mostly 3.2 beer). I love the grilled cheese and my husband always gets the spicy cajon chicken sandwich. Nice and friendly service although it can be inconsistent in regard to speed. We live two blocks away so we don't really have to worry about parking. I would disregard the two comments posted about the vallet parking and dingy atmosphere. This is a neighborhood pub, not LoDo. Plus, the vallet service is for Carmines, not the Spot. Two separate restaurants. Two separate owners. No pointing fingers, just stating facts. We tend to go only during happy hour as it can get pricy. But if you order a mixed drink, you will certainly receive a nice pour. Pros: happy hour, nice neighborhood feel, good bar food, great mixed drink pour Cons: can get busy and noisy, not a great beer selection on tap more

Not sure why you would listen to the two negative reviews 10/26/2007

First of all, I do not trust anyone who defends someone else's right to park on private property. Guess what? If it's not an on street parking spot, you shouldn't park there! Whoever this idiot was, they clearly parked off street and thought they could get away with it. Pros: A little corner bar, like you'd find in Chicago or Boston. Great post-work patio. Cons: It can get wall to wall with people because it's small. more

Awesome burgers 9/30/2007

The Spot has one of the best bacon cheeseburgers in town. Yes, it can get loud and crowded during games, but it's basically a neighborhood sports bar, so that's to be expected. Avoid it during games if you want to have a quiet conversation. If you have a problem, the servers/bartenders will be quick to fix it. The Valet parking is actually intended for the Italian restaurant next door, but there's plenty of free, on-street parking. more

Huh? 9/12/2007

I am not sure the last person who wrote a review of the Spot knew where he/she was. The Spot does not have a Valet service... It is Camille's (the Italian restaurant) right next to the Spot that has the Valet service... sorry that you did not realize this.. (Like a sports bar is going to have valet parking). Anyways... I'll write my review of the Spot... I have gone there and had pretty crappy service and I have gone there and had pretty great service... I would recommend going there more than once before writing a review.. I like the spot because it is a neighborhood bar and I kinda get the feeling like you are in a pub in an old english town when I am there.. If you want pure american cuisine (hamburgers, fries, cold beer) this is just as good, if not better, than most out there... If you are expecting five star dining.... then go eat at the overly priced Elways.... what else would you expect? more

Go ahead and come to this restaurant...to get your car towed! 8/31/2007

I actually witnessed the valet of this restaurant yelling at a lady. Apparantly, she had parked her car in the 3/4 empty parking lot and the valet took it upon himself to call the towing company. Besides feeling disturbed by this interaction, the food and service at this establishment are way below what one would expect for a night out on the town. I would recommend going to old chicago or someplace on that level; at least you would know the quality of food and service are somewhat controlled. This place is dingy and unkept in appearance and the service is slow and condescending ( the valet even feels the need to yell at people!) You won't have to pay for parking at most places at or above this level, and you won't have to worry about a service person screaming at you.\r \r Contrary to the above ""rater"" (restaurant owner?) Yes, it is your restarurant that is horrible. The other one may also be just as bad or worse, but it just makes you look even more pathetic when you attempt to point the finger at someone else! I AM talking about attending a sports bar, and I AM talking about a crazed valet attendant that DID engage in a shouting match with a PAYING CUSTOMER. Maybe YOU are the people that should be calming down ""camille's"" if their staff is behaving that way; isn't it always easy to blame someone else? Pros: absolutely nothing Cons: dirty appearance, arrogant staff, disappointing food more

Not the spot you want. Out spot; out, out! 8/30/2007

Please avoid this place if you have any taste in food or atmosphere. We just went on a busy game night and the service was slow beyond belief, the food was cold and tasteless, the place was overcrowded and loud, and even the valet was laughably pompous (this dive of a place actually has the nerve to charge for valet parking!) Skip completely and drive further into town for more class and better food. Not recommended for couples (too loud), not recommended for families (not kid friendly), and overall just not a pleasing place. more

real people 8/27/2007

Not a whole lot of pretionsion. Food is good, drinks are generally ample. That's all I ask. Abby on Monday day is great. Pros: Good people to hang out with. Cons: Sometimes too noisy. more

A neighborhood hang out, with dogs 4/17/2007

Spot Bar and Grill is a corner bar and restaurant with some character--brick building, some wood booths and a nice bar. Really nice to have something like that in your neighborhood. However, I just wish the place would strive to be a bit more than a sports bar. The onion rings are touted to be the best in town, but I found them to be no different than most that I've had. I made the annoying mistake of ordering the macaroni and cheese which was about the same as the stuff from a box by Kraft, and it cost a whopping $4.50. I couldn't believe they would have the audacity to charge so much for that!! The grilled cheese is a good-sized sandwhich. There are good specials on food and drink during the week, but not on the weekend. Parking can be tight, but not always a problem. Get a booth and get cozy, or sit out on the covered patio and hang out on a sunday afternoon with your dog on a leash within eyesight. Often crowded on weekends. Pros: good happy hour, nice place, good location Cons: macaroni and cheese more

Good Local Burger Pub + 90 6/6/2003

The Spot is a great asset to the neighborhood. Fairly good stuff on tap, a good burger, and a friendly neighborhood crowd. A good place to catch the big game, assuming you arrive early. On the upside: has a nice outside patio seating in good weather, 90 Shilling on Tap. On the downside: tends to be smoky, and not a great view of the tubes from all angles. Hint to owners: if you make a homey fresh, authentic salsa or guacamole, you won't be able to keep them away! Pros: Burgers, Neighborhoody, Rustic booths Cons: not 4 kids, can get very smoky more

Great food and service! 11/15/2002

MMMMmmm, almost everything on the menu is great and reasonably priced. Try the grilled chicken wraps, great burgers, or chili cheese dog and you won't be disappointed. The best onion rings in town too! more

Enjoyable 6/26/2002

A nice easy place away from downtown but not too far away. Great for Sunday Football or after a run at Wash park. I wish they had pitchers and the food is decent bar food. Next to Carmines like the show ""Cheers"" is next to Melvilles. Pros: nice clean Cons: no pitchers more

What a find. 5/20/2002

Best burger in Denver. The place remindes of a tavern you would find back in the Midwest. A friendly place,in a quiet neghberhood, with good service and great burgers. Not to mention a good selection of beers to wash down the meal of your choice. more
