Haircuts that are too cool for school 4/19/2010

I'm really not cool enough to get my straight blonde locks cut and colored by Christopher at Split Ends. I know he's probably rolling his eyes when I walk into the hip space every 3-4 months requesting my same style and same set of highlets yet again. Even so, he never tries to pressure me into doing something crazy that wouldn't be ""me."" I know he can do the funky styles and choppy layers that people far trendier than I rock out to -- I've seen it happen. But Christopher lets me be me, and he dutifully cuts my hair into the do that keeps my head happy -- regardless of his own thoughts on the matter. It's the reason I drive the 50 miles from LA for a $180 haircut/color job. And the reason I will continue doing so until I'm blue in the face. Because he and I both know I'll never go blue in the hair. Pros: Fun atmosphere, great haircuts more

No So Great 8/30/2009

My regular stylist was booked when I needed to get a cut and color, so I decided to try Gina at Splitends because of all the great reviews on Yelp. Gina was freindly and I enjoyed having her do my hair, but she did a terrible job on the color. She used too dark of a color for the lowlights and didnt use a toner for the highlights. It made my streaks look grey. I ended up spending a fortune at Vidal Sassoon to get it fixed. Definitely wont go back. Pros: Friendly stylist Cons: Horrible highlights & lowlights more

curls curls curls 4/23/2009

After being in search for a new stylist, I got a recommendation from Christopher himself for his newest stylist Nicole. I saw from their website that she's a pro with curly and wavy hair. I have naturally curly hair but have been straightening it for years because no one has ever known how to cut it properly. Thank goodness I found Nicole because she seriously made me fall in love with my curly hair. She also taught me how to use products (which they don't push on you at all) which makes the style even easier.\r \r The whole crew at Splitends are amazing, friendly, and professional. Plus the space itself is beautiful because it doubles as The Box gallery. So you're surrounded by beautiful art work while getting an amazing haircut.\r \r I definitely recommend booking with Nicole. She's new to the salon but trained under Christopher years ago. Plus not only will your hair be fantastic because she rocks out hair like no other, but you'll fall in love with her because her personality is out of this world. more

Caution Gina with RAZOR 5/17/2008

As a new-be to Huntington Beach I read reviews for splitends which seemed great. \r I chose Gina. Her personality is awesome-- but to bad her haircut was not. My hair is thick --so her cure was to use a razor, long story short; my hairs reaction was/is freezy. \r \r The saga continues for someone with magic hands... \r \r \r Pros: Cute name of business - good atmosphere Cons: 2 hair artist to choose from - Gina was not impressive - Chris (owner) don't know about his talents. more
