Having just relocated to area, I needed a "Good"-Honest automotive repair shop. The AAA of N. Calif. recommended Spiteri's in Belmont Ca. I am glad they did! I am/was impressed with staff, shop,overall communication, attention to ME and MY problems. I was First recommend by a friend to "another" repair shop, in Redwood City.. which I felt was NOT going to meet my needs AND probably worked on Commission....Spiteri's does Not! They Tell it like it is! From my first contact, to service performed I was impressed....I felt they were Honest, and prioritized my repairs, as a as needed basis..Not just do it all! Just like anything else, Businesses have to make money. Automobile repairs can be a Rip off, so You have to be the judge how and where you want to spent your hard earned dollars...I felt they were, on average excellent value for my $$'s spent.., if not 'the going labor rate"...I received great service, and the repairs were Very detailed, verbally, printed out, and easy to understand. more

The difference between a cheap job and a job done right is longevity. I've read the reviews and I am horrified to hear such negative things about this business. I have only used them 3 times, but thats because I went to them 3 times. I get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube, brakes done at Midas, and everything else as been at Spiteri's. The fact that my cars are a 2003 and a 2006 with very few visits are related to the work they have done for me. I dont believe that some of the reviews are realistic, because there are no "sure thing" diagnosis's in auto repair. It's one part idea, one part experience, and then everything else is exploration. more

Asian Neighbor I went to Spiteri's because of SmallTown add and 29+ smog reference. There is lots of PR going on and lots of smiles, how are you's, what can I do for you's and bells and whistles. I felt like they were rearranging the chairs on the Titantic. Everybody knew everybody or a relative or the name of their dog. Bottom line - I spent double - what they advertised. When you question something verbally - the fake looking shocked and ask you to explain..... They could do a lot better matching their so called professionalism with the final bill. more

I went to Spiteris because the add said they were number 1. It seemed great up front. I spoke to someone on the phone and he assured me they had 2 mechanics very familiar with my car. I already had the oil pressure measured and left the results on the seat for their mechanics. I already had someone listen with a stethascope and isolate the problem to 1 of 2 places, bearings or timing chain. I told him what had been done and asked him if they could drop the oil pan and confirm it was not the bearings. He said no problem: He said 2 hours labor but I'd have to wait until Wednesday. Mechanic called me Mon and said he could take care of it that day, he'd call me at 11am. He asked a lot of questions and I told him about the knocking and oil pressure light and he thanked me for leaving the oil pressure results on the seat. I've been a customer of Spiteri's Auto Service since 1980. They have taken care of at least six of our family's automobiles through the years. The owners and staff are wonderful to work with. They run a very clean shop, they are always cheerful, helpful and especially thorough when they explain what repairs need to be made and what options are available. I trust these folks and have never been disappointed in any of their work in what is now nearing a 30 year relationship! They are attentive to details, offer shuttle service to and from work/home while the car is being checked out. Extremely thorough inspection of long-neglected car. Found lots of issues large and small, explained everything clearly, prioritized repairs, offered a rental. Everyone extremely courteous, work well-done. Turned my repair records over to them and will be bringing my car back when it is due for its next service. I've found my new shop. Spiteri's has been great to do deal with. The owners are always around - ensuring the job gets done right and customers are treated well. They will always check over your vehicle and see if they spot any issues - but will always call with an estimate and explanation before they do any extra work. For example, last week I went in for a service and a mirror repair- but left with that, and two new front tires (which were bald and I just hadn't gotten around to replacing, and I didn't even think that they could take care if it that day), and an air filter. They aren't going to be your cheapest option - but employee quality staff, use high quality parts - and always stand behind their work. They always seem to be busy for a reason. I found them to be very overpriced. I would not recommend them. Too much sales for my taste. The question I was left with after I went to them is did I really need all that work... I never spent that much getting my car serviced. more

I found Spiteri to overprice everything and while they do try to be courteous and provide classy service, I found that they did not treat me with respect as they held my car for 2 weeks after telling me it would take a few days to get the job done. I believe they are shady and dishonest, but they did seem to take care of my car well. I think they charged us for things we did not need as they had made recommendations on items that I had just gotten fixed. more
