Best

I took my wife on this cruise for our anniversary. It was perfect. From the food to the floor this was the best night I ever had.

Worst

We went on this trip as an alternative to standing on a baking hot beach to watch the air and water show. After getting over the sticker shock, the $49.90 base price actually come...

We had a blast! 5/15/2012

We had our son's birthday on The Spirit of Chicago. What a great time. The crew was very professional and did everything they could to make our cruise special. Make sure to give names so tickets can be given out at the booth or get them to your party in advance. I handed them out as they showed up, not the best idea. It took away from my time on the boat. The food was excellent. The bread rolls were a little stale. I would recommend that they make the cruise an hour longer. I barely had enough time to talk to all my guests before it was time to disembark. All in all it was a very special event and everyone in our party had a fun time and enjoyed themselves. more

Lunch Cruise on Spirit of Chicago 11/7/2011

I was recently vacationing in Chicao with my sister and 2 other friends. We were looking for something different to do, since we make this trip once a year. So I called and booked a lunch cruise for the following day. What a wonderful experience we had! The buffet was fantastic. The staff was exceptionally accomodating. The entertainment was great. I especially liked where we were seated.....right next to the dance floor. The DJ was a fun guy, even joined us for a photo op! We are already considering upgrading to a dinner cruise next time we are in Chicago. Would recommend this cruise ship to all! more

Wedding aboard the Spirit of Chicago 9/8/2011

We wanted to have a small wedding with less than 25 people and looked into the Spirit of Chicago for our ceremony and reception. The wedding coordinators, Carrie Dunn and Susan Malen were professional, friendly and accommodated all of our needs. Everyone had a wonderful and truly memorable experience. Our party boarded the ship an hour before the rest of the ships guests. Our guests were escorted to the top deck of the ship seated for our ceremony. Everyone was then escorted to our seating area for a beautiful buffet. My floral centerpieces were displayed beautifully on all of our tables and the wedding cake was perfectly displayed in our section. Our party was able to dish up and find seating well before others were allowed to board. The DJ and entertainment staff kept the excitement alive throughout the cruise. It was a seamless and enjoyable experience. I absolutely recommend using the Spirit of Chicago if you don't want the hassle of piecing a wedding together. It was an inexpensive and completely stress free wedding. We were very happy with our entire wedding experience. more

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE 7/13/2011

I took my husband on this cruise and we REALLY enjoyed ourselves! From the food, to the drinks, desserts and even the music, it was ALL great!!! I paid for the upgrade to have the unlimited drinks, the only frown I had the whole day was because ""specialty"" drinkss weren't included. They recoginzed my husbands b-day and our waiter was AWESOME as well. All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and will cruise again. more

Never Again 8/14/2010

We went on this trip as an alternative to standing on a baking hot beach to watch the air and water show. After getting over the sticker shock, the $49.90 base price actually comes out at $65 including taxes and ""fees"" and the additional $49 to guarantee a window table, we were excited. We specifically were excited about their statement from the website ""will give you one of the best seats for the Annual Chicago Air & Water Show."" We arrived and got on board easy enough, only to notice that it was pretty empty and we would have had a window table anyway, and secondly, even the non window tables were pretty friggin close! Ripoff number 1! The food was average at best. We were amongst the first to board and it was already mostly cold. A selection of chicken something, beef something and some sides, and that was about it. Brunch at the Hancock is about $50 without the rip ""fees"" and is 100 times better. Ripoff number 2! We were offered drinks, water, tea, coffee or iced tea, but no soda. You could get a refillable Pepsi product for the bargain basement price of $3.50. Ripoff number 3! Still, it all would be worth it for the air and water show right, ....right????? NO, WRONG! We were a LONG, LONG way out, one of their sister ships was at least 1/2 mile closer, but we could barely see the specks on the horizon, unless they happened to fly over us. We were at the ""site"" to watch the show for maybe 45 minutes and didn't see much, not their fault as such as they don't run the show, but certainly they were way too far away to see anything water show wise, and like I mentioned the air show was mostly specks on the horizon of the city. I actually had to go ask the captain to move closer, which he did, marginally, on the way back to the pier. Ripoff number 4! The boat itself was OK, though we had paper table cloths and both the high chair and booster seat given to us were filthy, and had to be cleaned, lord knows when was the last time they were even wiped down. The salt shaker was so wet inside it was almost solid. Little things I know, but they all speak to the general care and attention to detail of this company. There was no baby changing facilities in the bathrooms. Last, but by no means least, there was the entertainment. Provided by the ""singing servers"", which might explain their lack of attention to their actual patrons. They all seemed to studying music or arts and were all invited to sing, or in most cases, shout, for the audience. They truly were terrible, and the audience would have been better served with some pub karaoke! more

BEST SURPRISE EVER 8/5/2010

My husband treated me to a surprise and the Spirit Of Chicago was it. We went on the luncheon cruise and had a wonderful time. We got there early and strolled navy pier, what fun as we waited to board ship. We where greated warmly from the staff and shown to our table. the buffet was very good and the waiters and waitresses were wonderful, they made sure you had everything you wanted or needed almost before you knew. The DJ played our favorite song, the singers and dancers were good, and everyone had a good time on the dance floor. All the guests were friendly and we all had a wonderful time. I'm ready to go again sometime. more

Very Romantic Dinner 1/15/2010

Once in a while, I kind of like a little cheesy-ness and fun. I went on a date in the fall on Spirt Cruise and had a blast. Walking along Navy Pier before we sailed off was a great way to spend a few hours. We knew it was time to get on board because the 70s disco club music started up. Once on board, we were escorted to a table where we were placed with different couples. It really isn't that bad if your sociable. The cruise set sail and the entertainment began. Singers, and dancers performed while we had drinks at the bar. It was kind of fun. My favorite part of the cruise is going up stairs to eat a romantic dinner. we went on a warm night, so it was nice to be upstairs under the moon light. Can you say holly 70s? The dance for is all about doing the boogie and electric slide. All in all, this is a fun time. Pros: Fun, cheesy and really romantic Cons: A little pricey more

The Best, Funnest Cruise Ever! 10/19/2009

There are so many things to say about the Spirit of Chicago cruise. One thing I really love is the entertainment. The Spirit Staff are cool people who like to bring it down on the dance floor and show their moves. Also, the food is always amazing. My favorite is the chicken breast. The best I've ever had. The views of Chicago on the lake are exquisite. Everyone is always having a great time and that's why I always keep coming back to the Spirit of Chicago family. I'm sort of part of them =) since I cruise a lot with them. Pros: Excellent food, fun dancing, fun people Cons: None :) more

Fun and Fireworks! 6/10/2009

I recently went on the Fireworks dinner cruise with some friends and it was truly a fun time. The service was great as it always is on this company's boats. The fun thing about this boat though is that the staff actually sings and dances and performs for you during certain parts of the dinner. Our waitress was a great singer as well! During the 2nd half of the cruise the central part of the ship turns into a dance floor for everyone and it's really a fun atmosphere. Great place to go with friends! Pros: Great views, fun staff who performs, and tasty food! more

Breath taking! 12/17/2008

I really like the Spirit of Chicago and have frequented it a few times for proms and dinner. It is a beautiful cruise with at least 2 levels. It is very romantic, and chill. The dinners are very good and filling, there is a dance floor to get your boogy on, a nice view outside. The price is fairly expensive but fitting for all the amenities and valuable offers you have during the hours you are aboard. However, if you are an employee you get a really big discount. A great thing to take part of. more
