Spinato's Pizza

I ate here on a trip from Vegas and have to say that this is by far the best pizza that I have ever had in my life and every time I visit the Phoenix area I always make a excuse to be able to drop in for a slice or 20! If you love pizza you are an idiot if you don't find some way or time to make it here for some of the best pizza ever! more

Have you ever watched the turkey dinner scene in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation? I had to melt down every bite of that pizza with water before swallowing it. If I wasn?t so hungry I would have thrown it away and gone out to eat? It tasted like cardboard? I should have known it was bad pizza the second the guy I ordered it from said we?re all out of 11? pizzas. Right then and there was my clue that they don?t even make their own dough. A pre-Made frozen pie shell is what they are using. I could have gone to the store and purchased a stuffed crust Freschetta and been a lot happier. Not to mention that the 7? pizza with an order of 6 bread sticks cost me $18 bucks? I?ve lived all over AZ for the last 12 years and have ordered pizza from all over the place? You want a good pie? Here are 6 quality places: 1. Veneiza?s ? NY style with Blue cheese and they have Buffalo wings. Want a good deal? Go in and get the 2 slices and a beverage for like 5 bucks? Want the biggest pizza you have ever seen? Order the Party Pie? Awesome! 2. Reno D?s ? Great Pies with a unique flavor. Wings have an awesome sauce so order a side and you?ll get a 12oz container full. 3. Nellos ? Offers great pie and a good price. 4. Pizzeria Bianco ? Sit down joint. Make a reservation! Brick Oven, gourmet style? 5. Oreganos ? Good pies including Chicago style. No delivery option though! 6. Gus?s on Campus is a good ?I?m drunk and hungry? place. Go Sober up! We go here at least once a week. The homemade sausage can't be beat, the sauce has just the right sweetness, and the salad with italian dressing is so good my kids even eat it. Don't miss the sausage! more

I've been a Spinato's fan for years. In the 70's Aurelio's Pizza was on 68th street and McDowell. Joe Aurelio opened up Aurelio's where he trained and taught Ken Spinato the pizza business. All the recipes were from the original Aurelio's in Homewood IL. started in 1959. Around 1985 Joe Aurelio sold the restaurant to a car dealer and Spinato's/(Aurelio's)was born. I've been going to Spinatos for over 20 years. I've moved away from Phoenix, but hit this place everytime I come back into town. They have several locations, but the one on Smith is HQ. Pros: Good Za! more

I never even knew this place existed. It is located in an industrial park in Tempe and you barely even recognize it when you are looking for, let alone when you are not. But once inside it is great. Spinota's has some of the best pizza I've ever had. We called ahead, so we had pizza waiting on us. It was delicious. The cheese bread was wonderful as well. The place is small, so we sat in the back room, which was unexpectantly pleasant. Service was great too. more

Being located in an industrial park and having a sterile type atmosphere, you would expect that the food would be good, and it is! It's a hassle to bring your own beer (what is pizza without it?) but if you want the best pizza available the negatives are easily overlooked. Pros: Great Pizza more
