Five Star Reviews given to Angela and her staff at Spike-N-Rail 8/23/2008

May 24, 2008 we had our daughters wedding receiption at Spike-N-Rail. We had at least 250 people and NOT one person had a complaint. The food and service we received from the manager (Angela) and her staff was FIVE STARS. I would highly recommend any event there. Angela was so helpful in helping us decide on decorations. My daughter had the cinderella wedding and reception. The hotel was great too! Everyone had such a wonderful evening, ONE NIGHT we'll forever cherish. Thanks again to the staff at Spike-N-Rail. Oh yes, I can't forget the train rides that our guests and kids had--- everyone loved it! Chuck & Shelley Best, Kingsburg, California. Pros: Found everything to be GRAND more

Order your meal in stages 1/9/2008

I like the atmosphere, and the feel of the restaurant. They set it up very nice. I was seated, and had a small wait before someone came over and got my drink order. By the time they came to give the drink order, I was ready to order my meal. I ordered the ribs that advertised something along the lines of Dripping of the Bone! Sounded good, I got my dinner salad, and bread with my drink. Just after I finished cutting a piece of bread, and pouring the salad dressing onto the salad, I hadnt even taken a bite yet, and my ribs showed up? Obviously I ordered something with a salad, so I tried to enjoy my salad, while I sat there looking at my ribs going cold. I tasted the bread, kinda dry and to much flour used. Finally I finished my salad, and instead of letting it settle for a minute, I dug into the ribs, because I HATE cold food. I ate one rib, and there was no dripping off the bone, but alot of tearing off the bone. That is how three ribs were, and I decided I was done eating. Then the manager, who walked past me earlier when I had an empty coke, and a dinner plate getting cold while I ate my salad, came by to ask how dinner was. I am sorry but if your that useless of a manager, there is nothing you can do for me. My dining experience I compare to Denny's, and I feel Denny's can produce a better meal. \r \r Luckily I wasnt paying for the meal, as I was on a business trip, so the customer paid for it, otherwise I would not have been happy. I can tell you I will never go back there again and I dont recommend you go there either!! I am sorry if you disagree, but I am accustom to higher quality dining experiences in Seattle!! Pros: atmosphere was nice Cons: Food is crappy, and service needs work more

Great customer service 12/3/2007

My daughter wanted to stop and have some split pea soup. We both ordered the all you can eat split pea soup. The waiter came out and told that there was only enough split pea soup for one person. I let my daughter have the split pea soup, as she really likes it. I had that cream of asparagus soup. The asparagus was woody as if the base of the asparagus had been used. The flavor was good, but the texture of the asparagus was not. Also, my grandson ordered hot chocolate and I ordered a Chai Tea Latte, as there was a Starbucks in the restaurant. Both of our drinks were tepid, if not cold. My Chai Tea Latte was re-made and his chocolate was re-heated. I must say that the Chai Tea was not as good as have had. We spent approximately $44.00 as this establishment. The waiter kept apoligizing. It seems that maybe, he could have given us a discount considering the issues that were a problem. We were on our way home from Visalia headed toward Yuba City. We still had a long way to go to get home. It was already a bit late. I will say that the service team were great in their attentiveness. And they paid special attention to the baby, giving her a balloon which made her very happy. \r At any rate, I am not sure if I will dine here again. So, please make sure you have enough split-pea soup because you never know who might want to have more than one bowl.\r \r Sincerely,\r \r Terry Clark and family more
