We expected Spice of India to be a convenience store kind of atmosphere, but it's very much a legitimate Indian grocery store. While of COURSE not on the same scale (space wise) as a bigger chain, Spice of India has everything you need to make dinner tonight.
My husband and I are American, but love Indian food, however, any recipe I've ever made, I've had to substitute several ingredients for it's American counterpoint. Spice of India solved that for good. The owners- Ike and Layla- are very informative. He saw me standing, jaw dropped, in their extension spice aisle and asked me what I wanted to make (NOT what I was looking for) and pointed me to all the authentic ingredients I'd need, even giving me cooking direction. I went home to make the most authentic, delicious Indian dinner I've had that wasn't made by a native of the country- even his method for cooking rice made the most delicious rice I've ever tasted!
So much to choose from, interesting products, GREAT staff and good prices!!
Pros: the service, great selection, authentic, convenient location
Cons: can be a little overwhelming (so much to choose from!)
