waste of time and money 3/24/2012

I would give it a zero if I could. The price reflects a restaurant which should care about providing a pleasant atmosphere. This place DOES NOT! We were next a table with a crying infant and at least two more noisy toddlers. Don't know why people would be so unsophisticated and inconsiderate as to think other diners at a restaurant in this price range would/should tolerate this, but this is, to me, where restaurant ownership should step in. When I complained, the manager said he couldn't do anything about it because the offending party might complain. Well, in this situation there are two choices: Cater to people who think it is acceptable to ruin the atmosphere for others, or cater to the people who possess enough intelligence and class to know children of this age, behaving in this manner, belong at McDonalds or at home with the babysitter. Speery's ownership obviously chooses the former. I would never risk wasting time or money again on this place. My home is pleasant and civilized and I can cook. Why would I want to spend time and money in a place which does not respect my right to expect a pleasant experience in their establishment? more

Good Desert 1/27/2012

The food is good. A little over priced. However the Bananas Foster is made table side and makes it worth the trip. more

I just don't get it ... 1/21/2012

I just don't get the 5-star reviews of this place. I've been there 3 times & the food is really good ... if I was at Logan's Roadhouse. It's form over substance. My blackened ribeye was good portion, but a very average cut of meat. It wasn't very tender ... & blackened doesn't mean BURN salt & pepper on your steak. If you want a better cut of meat & a well seasoned steak go to Outback .... & PAY HALF THE PRICE. That's what gets me, it's almost like they pass themselves off as an upscale restaurant because they charge upscale prices. For the price I prefer Ruth's Chris ... & you'll get a MUCH better cut of meat. The only thing famous about the salad bar is that they put ""Famous"" in front of it on the menu. I couldn't believe my eyes .... It's PUNY. Want a better salad bar ... go to Ruby Tuesday's. I'll give them this, the service is good. Atmosphere is nice, but it's noisy & hard to carry on a private conversation. more

Overpriced 5/25/2011

I have tried Sperry's twice now, and I'm not impressed. The steak is decent, but not worth the price. I've had the same or better quality at many other places for a better price. more

Wonderful food & excellent service 2/2/2011

We booked Sperrys Restaurant in Cool Springs as the venue for our small wedding banquet. We hired a private room for our party of 14. Sperrys event planner Liz was very helpful & made sure everything was perfect for our event. The food was absolutely excellent, & the service efficient & discreet. I will certainly return to Sperrys & would not hesitate to recommend it as a venue for private dining. more

Disappointing 3/30/2010

I was really looking forward to eating at Sperry's because I had heard that it had a good reputation. My parents had eaten there before and liked it. My mother's birthday was coming up, so we decided it would be a good time to check it out. Pros: Pro: Perfect atmosphere for the event (birthday party) Cons: Cons: How many can I list? more

Poor service - OK food 3/29/2010

Six of us met for a business dinner - very undemanding group. Sperry's has a great 1970's ""steakhouse feel (complete with the serve yourself salad bar). The service was poor at best; drinks constantly empty, & a lack of attention. I felt like we were bothering them by taking a table. My steak was cooked correctly but the sides were cold/room temperature by the time they made it to the table. Several restaurants in the Franklin area offer a better experience, better steak, and an overall more enjoyable evening. I can't say I'll be back. Pros: Retro-atmosphere Cons: poor service, OK food, did I mention the poor service? more

Service, drinks 1/27/2009

Hesitant to go, I was easily made to feel welcome in a very crowded bar that I questioned sitting at. Busy bar, great bartender; Tracy, I think. Anyway, great food, great service, great bar. I certainly understand why they remain a place to be; although I personally DON'T like a salad bar... If you're unfamiliar with the menu or not, recommendations from the bartender seemed to be the right way to go. Keep it up! Pros: service Cons: crowds more

Love, Love, Love Sperry's! 4/25/2008

I go to Sperry's whenever there's a special occasion to go out or If I plain just want a good steak. Their wine list is by far the biggest in the are Bananas Foster is THE BEST I crave it all the time : ) and It's about time someone in Franklin started taking reservations I hate going somewhere to wait an hour then to be rushed out! I always make a reservation and I'm NEVER dissapointed! :) Pros: Service, food, and Ambience more

What a Great Restaurant 2/16/2008

Clean, charming, fireplaces, great food, good service plus affordable for fine dining. I simply love to go to Sperrys. It is so unlike any restaurant in the Nashville area. Just can't get enough opportunities to go back. This has been my favorite eatery for years. You can depend on the food to be top of the line,,,,,always. I have not eaten at Franklin location, but feel sure it will be just as great Pros: Great food, clean, good service, good menu. Cons: Dining room is alittle crowded, may be uncomfortable seating for more than 4 people. more

over priced for what you get 11/4/2007

You have to be kidding! When I pay this much to go to a ""good"" restaurant the last thing I want to do is stand in line at the salad bar. My food was just so, not really that good and not enough of it. The wait staff was nice. They did an ok job, but the food was just not very good. I will not go back and I will not recommend it to anyone. In fact I have told people I thought it was over priced for what you get. Cons: over priced for what you get more

BEST ALL AROUND EXPERIENCE 7/19/2007

I have been to them all(expensive high-end steak houses)(Stoney River, longhorn, etc.) and i must say this one is the best out of all of them, the bathrooms are clean as a whistle, and the men's bathroom has lcd tvs above the urinals, and the plates for cold items (the salad bar) , and (desserts) , the plates are chilled to where you can see the chill on them(im the type that notices EVERY SMALL DETAIL). the customer service is great, our waiter spilled my ketchup on some lady's shirt and he was very apologetic and she recieved a free meal. in terms of environment: they have dimmed lights, and kind of an old-english pub wallpapers and sourroundings.the waiters took a good bit to explain things to newer customers(like myself and my family) i noticed a large population of seniors dining there, so it was a very pleasant experience, and not as loud as your common chilis. Pros: food, service Cons: the cost more

Wonderful Evening 3/25/2007

My husband and I have visited Sperry's many times since it's opening in June. We have had a wonderful experience each time we visited. Each time we go we try to order something different. We have never been dissapointed. However, I think my favorite is the Blue Cheese Stuffed Filet! The wine list is excellent and so are the deals when they are offered. Service has always been impeccable. Oh and of course the desserts are incredible. Our favorite dessert is the English Toffee Pudding. Thank you Sperry's for coming to Cool Springs/Brentwood we needed you here! Pros: the atmosphere and food more

Great atmosphere, unique decor, friendly service, cool bathrooms 1/15/2007

Sperry's Restaurant has been in business in Belle Meade since 1974. It Is an independent family owned and operated business with a unique English Tudor atmosphere that can't be found anywhere else. Sperry's warm and comfortable atmosphere has three stone fireplaces and loads of beautiful stained glass plus a myriad of unique decorations collected over the years. The second location in Cool Springs is a duplicate of the original with the exception of multiple private dining rooms. The large copper salad bar is fresh and inviting, and not overstocked with too many items. Pros: Friendly service and great food, not a chain!!! Cons: Busy place, need reservations more

Another Success for Brentwood 1/15/2007

My boyfriend and I met another couple there for my birthday, this is the third time we had been at Sperry's in a month. The food was excellent, the grilled halibut was very well prepared. My bfriend ordered the steak, alittle salty but otheriwse finely prepared. We all had the salad bar and deserts with shrimp cocktails to start, the bill came to about $320.00 not including tip... service was excellent, would defintely go again. Pros: Parking, food and service great salad bar Cons: loud, no bar seating more

Better Steak Elsewhere 11/27/2006

Four of us went to Sperry's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We were all looking for a good steak (actually anything but turkey), and after reading the reviews of the steakhouses in Cool Springs decided on Sperry's. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservations (were told not to as they were booked that night) and was seated immediately. We ordered the rib eye, prime rib and bacon wrapped filet stuffed with blue cheese. The prime rib was fair, the filet did not taste at all like filet mignon, and the prime rib was all of 1/4 inch thick and tasted more like skirt steak than ribeye. At $26 per piece of steak I would have expected meat on a par with Morton's or Flemings, but the meat served was more on a par with Logan's or TGIFridays. more

Forget The Palm 11/18/2006

I recently went to the new Sperrys at Cool Springs, and had a wonderful experience. Sperrys knows what atmosphere, food quality and customer service are all about. I got the Filet and Shrimp with a side of asparagus, and I was very impressed. The past two times I went to The Palm, my steak was burnt on the top and red on the bottom. Our server didn't seemed too concerned, either. Sperrys reminded me what great food, attention to the guest and CLEANLINESS was all about!!! Pros: Atmosphere, great food, relaxing bar Cons: Parking, Not open for lunch more

Disappointing for upscale dining 10/23/2006

We went with a group of eight. The service was above and beyond. Salad bar was very fresh and not filled with a lot of unnessary items. But the food in general is average. My trout was a bit greasy. Everyone else seemed satisfied with their choices. We all shared some bannanas foster wich was very good. I guess in general, for the same price range, I feel a place such as Morton's or the Palm is better. Pros: Excellent service Cons: over priced for average cuisine more

Mediocre 8/25/2006

We went twice in a week. The first time the service was great and really overcame a mediocre steak. The second time the service was horrible. We had to wait 45 min after our reserved time. We bought an extraordinarily expensive bottle of wine from their excellent wine list and the waiter didnt even offer to decant it. The service was also rushed. It would have been average if it had been at Shoneys. Pros: Great wine list and good service if you get the correct waiter Cons: Poor service f you don't and mediocre steaks more
