Rehab without DUMB S#lT and it worked . I had been to different rehabs in the past without success. Often it was just an endurance contest waiting to ""get out"". No one used that phrase ""getting out"" to describe leaving here. One past rehab I went to said I had a chemical imbalance in my brain with no TEST ! for it and l 'need' some mental zombie pills to be sober, no kidding ! or that all my drinking was because I was ""dishonest"" or didn't make my bed perfect in the morning, What ?!! I heard that at places of the past also. more

Luring with other names 6/26/2011

Run a search for rehab facilities and you'll find sites for executive rehab and for party drugs rehab but they'll lead you right to Spencer Recovery Centers again! That's probably because too many of us know ""Spencer"" and CRINGE at the thought of sending another loved one there at a high cost for poor treatment. I gotta laugh at these 5-star reviews. Spencer probably wouldn't pay them to do it - he's too cheap. At least some of them can't be kosher. Maybe the staff writes them or gets other people to write them. Be forewarned - the place is an expensive joke. more

The terrible reviews are right 6/22/2011

There used to be a bunch of deservedly terrible reviews for Spencer but now those are gone and all these great reviews are here driving Spencer's rating up and up?! ROFL! That's pretty funny, except for anyone who gets fooled by it and spends money there. Chris Spencer is this greedy old miser who seems to be surrounded by young gay guys 'cuz they're young gay guys. I've seen women working for him too but they seem to be the pack animals. That's my straight impression: it's a weird place that wants A LOT of money from you. There are other treatment places in the area that care much less about money and much more about your recovery. If you look at Spencer for treatment, move on and keep looking. more

I?m doing really good today. I can get up and appreciate what I have which is hope for the future. I?m in a really good place now. I?ve been through programs before and I was willing this time. I?m extremely grateful for the gift of Spencer Recovery. more

This is my second time getting sober. I had tried before but I was more willing this time. I had a great counselor that had a great talk with me that made me just try. This time it just clicked for me at Spencer. more

Stay away! 6/11/2011

In my time there I saw people have their money and property stolen. Counslors share sensitive information, patients sleeping with each other and several other inappropriate acts as well as unethical behavior by staff. Spencer the owner sponcered my brother, he died of alcoholism. Enter at your own risk. more

An amazing change 4/14/2011

After visiting Spencer Recovery Center last month, I am confident that we found the right place for our son. Within one month the counseling staff was able to uncover his greatest pain. He was able to share the psychological scar with us while his family counselor sat by his side. In our son?s words, ?Today I look out the window and see a future with wonderful opportunity. I never saw that before.? No program, facility nor therapist in the past has ever helped our son achieve this level of self worth. more

We just left our son after spending the Christmas holidays with him at Spencer Recovery Center in Laguna Beach. He has been sober for the past sixty days and already, the person we once knew is reemerging. His joy of life is returning. more

I want to thank Spencer Recovery for saving my life 2/22/2011

When I arrived at Spencer Recovery Center, Laguna Beach California, I was a mentally, physically and spiritually broken man from 25 years of excessive alcohol use. I was met by a wonderful, caring and professional staff who guided me through my detox and was there for me every step of the way. With an excellent teaching and counseling staff, I was given one-on-one counseling and group therapy. After each session, I was beginning to see what I was being taught, Spencer gave me a foundation and the tools to build on this foundation, in order to maintain sobriety. Today, I am a happy and sober man. I want to thank Spencer Recovery for saving my life, as I was truly on my way to death. more

Great Staff at Spencer Recovery Centers 2/22/2011

My husband was a patient at the Florida location. The staff at Spencer Recovery Center were very professional, caring and nurturing. They handled my husband's seizure episode with great care and professionalism, and helped him work through the issues that have conflicted him for so long. They are dedicated employees that really care for the patients in the rehab programs. They have done a great job for him on his road to a sober lifestyle. Caring and compassionate addiction and recovery center 2/20/2011

I have seen a tremendous change in our daughter. She loves life again and is so positive about herself. I am amazed at her growth in the program at Spencer Recovery Centers, and I am excited for her future.
