On Saturday 6/3/2010 I took my vehicle to a SpeeDee franchise located at 4001 Veterans Hwy in Metairie at roughly 4pm, whereas I asked to have the vehicle services with an oil change and overall checkup as I was going to drive it out of town for 3 weeks. During the servicing I notice the manager and mechanic were on the phone discussing my vehicle with the owner. After which the manager and mechanic approached me to inform me that my car's engine was destroyed due to the failure of the mechanic. The mechanic failed to replenish the engine oil following the oil and transmission servicing, so when they started the engine in the service bay it was devoid of any engine oil. By his own admission, the manager on duty, informed me that my car?s engine was destroyed at which point the mechanic apologized and explained the cost of the repairs would be his responsibility to pay and that the SpeeDee Service Station would not be involved. This was also confirmed by the manager on duty. For obvious reasons this was unacceptable. The manager went on to tell me that I could not seek another mechanic?s approval, I would not be reimbursed for a rental car and that if the car was removed from the service station, SpeeDee would not be responsible for any payments. Trying to intimidate and coericeme into giving into their plan. The owner was placed on the phone and rudely told me that another second hand engine from a junk yard would be used to fix the damaged vehicle and that only they (SpeeDee) could fix the car. The owner then became even more irate and belligerent over the phone and denied me any allowance for a rental vehicle and then instructed me to play along as I didn't have a choice in the matter. Furthermore, I was instructed by the owner not to involve an attorney or he would not be able to help me further. They then tried to through me out of the serivce station after I refused to leave with my car in their care. So the cops were called, I had my vehicle towed to another service location and will probably need to sue this service station to recover my losses. All because these individuals would not take full responsibility for their actions. If I were you, I would NOT leave your car in the care of these so called professionals.
Pros: Most locations are not like this on
Cons: Incompetent and grossly negligent owner and staff
