Special Event

We were looking for prom dresses on 1/12/13, and after 5 dresses were told they needed to free up the rooms, we needed to be done! \r Than they had the nerve to tell us to come back another day and look again, sorry will not be back. \r The owner/manager told the women helping us, that they had lines at the front and they needed our room.. LOL 3 rooms were empty, and no one at the front desk. I have never been so insulted in my life. more

Actually, this is a ZERO star rating. PLEASE consider if you want to chance your bridal experience by patronizing Special Event. The staff measure you, look at the specific size chart for that manufacturer, and tell you what size is appropriate. We ordered the sizes they recommended. Long story short- Jill was very nice and helpful. She re-measured six women for bridesmaids dresses after another worker had gotten measurements that seemed ""off"". For two of the women, she recommended sizes and both of these women decided to err on the side of caution and go up a size. After measuring the rest of the women, she recommended sizes and we agreed to those sizes. Upon arrival, ALL SIX DRESSES ARE TOO SMALL. Four can be altered, taken out a few inches in the seams. Two of the dresses, ironically, the two who cautiously ordered up one size, will not even zip the last 5 inches on top. (What if they had taken the staff recommendation to order the smaller sizes?) JODI, THE OWNER, says ""YOU CHOSE THE DRESS SIZES, IT IS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY THAT THE DRESSES DON'T FIT"". Really??? Who took the measurements? Enough said. PLEASE take your business elsewhere and support ethical business practices. more

The Special Event has been amazing! From the first day I bought my wedding gown to the day before the wedding they were there for us. They were always open honest and willing to help me with anything I needed. I LOVED my bridesmaids dresses. They had so many to choose from and so convenient with ordering, even for my girls who all lived out of town. And the fittings done on their dresses truly made them fit like they were made for each girl. My dress was AMAZING! My whole look came together with the dress and all my accessories thanks to my consultant. Their seamstress knew what she was doing, my fittings went so smoothly and in the end I felt beautiful on my wedding day! The guys tuxes were so sharp! Loved that the consultants were there to make sure the guys left looking their best! I had the best experience at The Special Event. I loved that they are not just there to sell but to actually get to know me, my wedding party and everything about my event. It was great having a consultant that was with me every step of the way. I wouldn't go back and change anything, my day was perfect and we owe it to The Special Event Boutique for making that possible!! Highly recommend to anyone who wants service not just a discounted dress like other bridal shops. more

I bought my bridal dress from Special event which went wonderful and because I bought the dress there I received a discount on the tuxes so I decided to get those too- big mistake!!! We picked up the tuxes thurs. before the wedding- when the guys tried them on two of the pants were 2-2 1/2 in. too short, 2 coats were too short or tight, three white shirts were too small and one was two sizes too big, one teenager received a toddler sized shoe and the ring bearer's shoes were two sizes too big!!! So the day before the wedding we ended up having to drive 1 hr. to alex. to get them fixed- we didn't get all the pieces until 1/2 hr. b4 pictures on Sat. (the DAY of the wedding)- an extra headache that didn't need to happen- I do not recommend them, especially because this same thing happened to my cousin two weeks ago at Special event!!! I tried to call them before my wedding to make sure it didn't happen to me and they assured me that it wouldn't but it did. When I attempted to discuss issues with the manager she hung up on meTWICE!!! Hopefully this helps you decide where to get your tuxes- NOT AT SPECIAL EVENT BRIDAL SHOP!!
