As the name depicts, Speak Easy is remminescent of the 30's era when Prohibition was in effect and people would go to those "underground" establishments to get themselves something to imbibe in of an alcoholic nature.
The restaurant itself is surrounded by that 30's atmosphere of flappers, and gangster mobs, with the wait-staff wearing mafia style clothing complete with wide-brimmed hats. There are moments when you expect Bugsy Malone himself to enter and saunter up to your table.
The food is delicious and abundant. Everything from pasta, steaks, seafood, to pizza. My favorite is the vegetable lasagna which comes in whole or half sizes, served with salad and fresh baked bread. There is also a lounge with tv's for sports enjoyment.
The seating is ample with quite a bit of room between booths or tables so you don't feel as though you're elbowing anyone or involved in the next tables chatter. However, the drawback to the ample room is that the rooms for dining are so large, peoples voices do tend to carry and you almost have that echo effect. Other than that, if you're in the mood for some really decent Italian with a fun little motif and don't mind the noise level, Speak Easy is the place to go. All the locals do!
