Spartacus Leathers

I recently popped into Spartacus to pick up a few things and boy has it changed! This is not your parent's adult shop, that is for sure. Apparently there was a major overhaul done sometime in the last 18 months since I had last stepped foot in the store. The front of the shop is a veritable cornucopia of lingerie, club wear, and other naughty delights. My girlfriend was begging for a few items from the front of the store but I had other things in mind. This leads me to *my* favorite part... the "back room". To enter the back age restricted area (the front is all ages), you pass through a sort of metal beaded entrance to get to the good stuff. If whips, chains, and leather are your thing, well then, baby, you are home! We browsed for an hour looking at all the leather items. The staff gladly answered questions and made suggestions in a friendly non-obtrusive way. If you are seeking a large selection of BDSM and leather gear, Spartacus is *the* place to go in Portland. The staff was great and knowledgeable (to the person that helped us choose the smaller of the two ball gags, you were right, her mouth would have been tired from the larger one). They also have a fine selection of more mainstream adult toys (not to mention all the lingerie and club wear). If you have not been to Spartacus, go. It is well worth the trip. Spartacus is pretty cool, but there are some issues. I've got a flogger that I paid $45 for...and I've seen the exact same one at Spartacus for $278. They are a bit pricey. And their people are snotty sometimes...there is one guy in particular who repeatedly cards my girlfriend & I every time we go to the back area of the store, even though we've been in there enough that he should recognize us by now. But it's kind of fun to browse thorugh every once in a while, even though I never buy anything from them. more

Spartacus has just about anything one could ask for: lingerie, books, videos, leather, toys--you name it. The selection is great! Sales staff is courteous, friendly, and knowledgable about the product lines they carry. This is the first place I go when I need something naughty or nice. I CAME TO THIS STORE LOOKING FOR A VERY SPECIFIC ITEM...THAT ANY "REAL" FETISH ORIENTED STORE SHOULD HAVE...AND NOT ONLY WAS THE STAFF NOT HELPFUL BUT THEY INITIALLY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT...AT LEAST KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO SELL...ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS IS THE SELF-PROCLAIMED BEST STORE OF IT'S KIND IN THE AREA!!! Shopping at Spartacus is quite an adventure. From helpful, courteous staff, to a wide variety of merchandise, there was little here to disappoint. Over the last few years this store has shown a vast improvement. They have moved more adult oriented materials in to an "adults only" area which is carefully monitored. This allows fashion shopping for all ages. From your leather and fetich needs to your club clothes, you can find it there. And if you can't find it, their staff will be more than willing to help you locate just what you are looking for. Bravo Spartacus, and keep up the good work!
