Spanish Oaks is situated at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon and features a front nine in the lower lying valley, and a back nine that is built up the mountain a bit and has more ups and downs. The course isn't bad and is definitely playable, no major problems, greens are manicured nicely and FAST so be careful with the putter. In fact, that's one of my complaints about the course. It seems they've tried to make up for what is a shorter course by making the greens and pin placements incredibly tough. On the back nine it's not uncommon to hit a great approach or a decent lag and watch it roll all the way down the green and off the front. Nobody likes a four-putt but I've had 3 or 4 of only a handful in my life at this course. And if you go anytime in the morning or late afternoon, be ready for some serious wind that can put a damper on the experience. Also, my other complaint is about the price. While this is a respectable course with good facilities, it does not compare favorably with other courses in the area at the same price or even cheaper. Perhaps one positive is that it's usually easy to get a tee time when some other courses in the area are more crowded or full.
