I've been going to Spa West for about a year. Around December of 2005, I had my first Lava Rock massage. The girl performing the massage said, "it will probably be really hot, but if it's too too hot, let me know." Me, being the strong willed person I am, thought it was supposed to be as hot as it was. About a week later, I noticed red splotches on my chest. It was determined that I have/had Second Degree Burns from the rocks. Furthermore, it is almost a year since I had the treatment, and my skin is still red, dark, and the skin flakes off in layers. My skin is trying to grow back but is taking a very, very long time. If you still do go to Spa West, DO NOT GET THE LAVA ROCK massage!!! You will be burned. more

Okay so I have been going to this salon for years now. I knew thier policy was "Children under 13 not prefered in spa area". HOWEVER...My Mom was watching our son (22 mos at the time)) outside but could not watch him AND our daughter who (was 5 mos at the time) since he is VERY rambunctious. So I figured...she's sleeping and it's just a trim which won't take long. Well...the snooty receptionist says, "I'm sorry but SHE can't be here in the salon" I told her "If she wakes up I need to be able to feed her (I bf)" "Well, she can't be here." was her response. I was SO mad. I called them later and told Miss Snooty to remove me from thier database and that if they are going to have an ABOSOLUTE policy they need to change thier website to reflect this (ie: "Children under 13 not ALLOWED in spa area") She had this: "Whatever" attitude. I recommend to EVERYONE...choose ANY other salon!!! more
