Southwest Child Care

Southwest Child Care is amazing! I have never seen such cultural diversity and that is really good for my kids to be around! The facilities are amazing and the environment is very safe. I had to get to know the staff (like anywhere) and once I did I feel very comfortable leaving my children in their care. My children have been bitten at other centers and it happens. My little one has even done the biting but I appreciate the way the teachers talk to all the kids at eye level and help them to understand feelings for others. I highly recommend southwest child care. more

My child loves going to Southwest Childcare. The staff they provide are loving (including the director and asst. director) and provide parent(s) with open communication always. They also provide healthy meals and snacks. My child is learning math and reading skills as well as other age appropriate activities. If it wasn't for SW childcare I would be a stay @ home mom. My daughters have been attending Southwest Child Care for a couple of years now and they absolutely love it. Any issues that have come up have been thoroughly attended to without question. The staff in its entirety are friendly and have great attitudes. This staff has a significant impact on my childrens lives and I have been able to communicate everything that I feel is important to my family and have it implemented into their daily activiities. They are a second family to me and very important to my children. The facility is clean and they are always looking for ways to involve the parents. The children are able to express themselves and find their own personal creativity. I am amazed at the pre-school program they offered this year to the students because my daughter has learned so much and has something new to show me every day. I have no doubts that when she begins kindergarten in the fall that she will be fully prepared. I recommend this day care to any one who is looking for a place to entrust their children and can assure you that these people will become part of your family!! In a month my 2-yr old was bitten over 7times. Once in the face. ""Its perfectly normal"", ""2-yr olds are a different animal"" ""There's things we can do to prevent biting"", ""We're working on it"", ""Some kid thought her arm was lunch"", until finally, ""You're going to need to come get her immediately"". These are quotes of explanations given to me for the constant biting my daughter was enduring. I feel it?s rather abusive. They chose to protect the abuser rather then the victim; my daughter. Ultimately, my month-long inquiries as to how they'd fix it, must have proved too much. The morning I left work to pick up my daughter I was sick & shocked to see her sitting on the front steps w/the receptionist, along with a bag of her belongings. Kicked-Out of daycare because her mother would not take ""Normal"" as a good enough explanation for her being bit over 7 times. Things were missing from her bag. They sent me across town to pick up my month?s bal. 2-days later. Once, the staff informed me that clean kids aren?t happy kids and that?s why she?s filthy every day. I was charged $15 for a key-fob to the front door, but it never closed! What about the box of broken crayons which pose a choking hazard and the markers she always had all over her face and mouth? I did file a complaint with CYFD My daughter is now enrolled in a smaller facility, Jefferson Discovery Montessori, that really has it Pros: THE TEACHERS DO THEIR BEST, BUT TO THIER CREDIT ARE OVERWORKED! Cons: POOR MANAGEMENT, UNSTRUCTURED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT, POOR DISCIPLINE, POOR SNACK CHOICES, SERVICES IN GENERAL more
