Southern Sun Pub & Brewery

I glance at the help wanted add on craigslist quite a bit looking for good part time waitstaff positions. This place is always hiring. This might explain why they have some on the worst services Ive experienced. Oh and who doesn't take credit cards. more

Good Burger and waitstaff decent (sometimes dirty) beer HOWEVER...The Management is probably the worst thing I have ever witnessed in my life!! After spending some time at the Bar on a fri.night with a group of friends two in the group had asked for a water when the manager heard this he leaned over and told these patrons that it was time the group should be leaving.Apparently asking for a water is a sign they will no longer be making money off of you and they will actually tell you to leave. more

"Attention Southern sun customer" -economics 101- This line was actually used by the owner to tell his loyal customers that they are actually losing money from them... You are costing this fine establishment more money than your worth during the hours of 4-6pm. During this time the southern Sun is only making $9 an hr from you when the chair you are sitting in is worth $32 an hour to them. How do we know that this is the case? This information was given to a group of older (retired) gentlemen who meet after work on a regular basis during the Southern Sun's "Happy Hour".These patrons were pulled aside in the parking lot as they were leaving by the owner of the southern Sun and through word of mouth has been passed along to many others who enjoy the pub for social gathering. It seems that this fine pub (which enjoys two very successful Boulder locations) has no longer a need for your patronage during this time. I really can't say enough about the Southern Sun in South Boulder (SoBo). The atmosphere; very casual. The waitstaff; very friendly. The whole experience; EXCELLENT. One thing to keep in mind.. know what you're getting into when you go to the Southern Sun. First, you'll probably have to wait to be seated. Every time we go, it seems we'll wait thirty minutes or more to get a seat. They don't take plastic but will honor a local check. The brews on tap are made in-house. We usually get burgers and fries, sloshed down with a pint of very hoppy beer. A good spot for an after hike meal. Board games are optional. This is probably my favorite spot in Boulder. more

Southern Sun is one of my favorite places in Boulder. The beer is great, the food is good (and reasonably priced). And the atmosphere is very fun. A laid back place where you can hang out and enjoy yourself. It is also an easy place to take kids as there is lots to look at to keep them occupied. more

it's a bit out of town, but not too much. at the intersection of table mesa and broadway is where you will find the Southern Sun, located next to a corner Conoco, but facing into the mall behind it. this is quiet the same experience, but more space. there are benches set up for groups, or conversational folks, and there is a longer bar than Mountain Sun's infamous 5 seats, and then there is also a corner with cushy couches. besides those nooks, there is standard seating at tables and booths for your average group of 3-4. the place is great, by the way; all the same great love that you'd come to expect of the Mountain Sun. lots of live music, and more space for fuller groups or dancing. just as roudy - perhaps it's the great beers, and $6 pitchers after 10pm. definitely a favorite in town, and a nice alternative to the overpacked Mountain Sun (still, don't expect to avoid a 30 minute wait at primetime hours). more
