Southern States owns a few dealerships throughout the Triangle and I could fill up 20 pages with how horrible this dealership in Durham was after I bought my 2000 Volkswagen Jetta. From the second week, I had nonstop problems with that car. It was in the shop at least 15 times throughout the year and sometimes needlessly. At one point I needed a part replaced and they had my car all day before calling to tell me that they didn't have the part in stock and I needed to pick my car up. They called two weeks later to tell me the part came in and that I could drop my car off the next day. Again, they had my car all day before calling to tell me that they had been mistaken and that the part was not in the shop. The third time I asked twice to make sure the part was in stock and they assured me it was. However I did not check to make sure that the guy who was supposed to install the part was there - of course he wasn't. Again, my car was there all day. Finally, on the fourth try the part was replaced and I had my car. That was just one of my experiences with them. I would never, ever recommend anyone buy a car from Southern States VW, especially the one in Durham, NC. The one in Raleigh NC has extremely disrespectful employees in most departments and they always made me feel like I was wasting their time being there. My new car is a Nissan and I drive 35 minutes out of my way for dealership service just so I do not have to go to Southern States Nissan.
