The Southern Needle was formed out of a desire by a group of women here in Madison County who wished for a local craft shop where they could teach others, including children, the various forms of Knitting, crocheting, and other handwork crafts that are art forms not being passed down to the younger generations. Many of us learned at the knee of our mother or grandmother, and yet we find that there are scores of younger people who do not know anything about handcrafted items. The shop offers a place where women, men and children can come and sit to work on a project, gain expert help and knowledge, or sit in a friendly atmosphere in which to work.
