Let me first say that the sales folks were very friendly. I wasnt to sure about their knowledge of the motorcycle they were selling me but very nice anyway. I have a HUGE complaint about the maintenance department. The motorcycle is a 1993 Heritage Softail. Yes I realize its a 93, but it should have been sold to me in a road worthy condition. I drove from columbus Ms. which is about 4 and a half hours away to purchase this bike. I got half way home and realized that NONE of the lights on the bike would come on. I rode the last 4 miles to my house in pitch darkness. The next day I began to troubleshoot and found that the ignition switch was improperly wired and shorting out the lights. Cost me a new ignition switch with keys because the dealership did not give me any keys to the bike. ALSO and more importantly, I found that the cross feed tube was not installed on the gas tanks, NOR was the fuel vent tube, which means when the tanks vented fuel, it was venting it all over a very hot engine. NOT GOOD! The kick stand mounting bolts were backed half way out and could have been disasterous if it had fell off. the mechanic that I took it to spent over 2 hours just tightening spokes, bolts and nuts on the bike. and rewiring the screwed up ignition switch. Many safety hazards on this bike and to think I rode it 4 and a half hours home in this condition. It has a fairing on it with a stereo. I turned it on at the dealership and the sales lady had no idea that the speakers were blown and did not work. (or did she????). Hell one speaker was hanging by the only 2 screws left to mount it.!!! Thats the least of my concerns. My point of all this would be, If you buy a used bike from Cartersville Harley Davidson, BRING YOUR OWN MECHANIC!!!!! The service department sury DOES NOT ensure the safety of their used bikes.
