My wife and I don't get as many nights on the town as we'd like, but the ones we do get, we have to make count. We've always loved Southbound, but a few friends in our group aren't big dancers, so we hadnt been in a few months. However, a friend booked a ""VIP"" birthday party there, so we got a chance to go back. After being gone for only a few months, there were definitely some changes. It was always a big dance club, but now it seems like it has a more lavish, nightclub-y vibe. Gone are the pool tables in the back, replaced with private booths with curtains, couches, and am I wrong, but a new bar? The second and third floors also change around a bit, according to some friends, although we didnt see as we stayed downstairs. The main difference was the addition of the VIP sections, which we were lucky enough to have one reserved for the night. There are two downstairs, one being on the stage they've always had, the other being a new, raised, and semi-enclosed area with plush couches. It was definitely VIP treatment-- personal cocktail waitress, complimentary bottle of champagne, security guard keeping watch, the works. The best part for us, our friends that arent big dancers loved the little bit of extra space and privacy that the VIP area gave, and are game to go again. Southbound gets 5 stars, for pleasing all types in a big group.
