The South Bay Veterinary Group is a terrible clinic. Over the course of a year only, they charged us for several services that were not required. We finally decided to change Vet when our puppy got a nasty antibiotic-resistant infection after he has been fixed there, that we had to treat with surgery and new antibiotics at Angel Hospital . more

Terrible Customer Service, Mediocre Animal Care 5/3/2012

I diligently read all the reviews I could find before choosing a vet for our new puppy, and despite a few negative ones settled on South Bay because there were so many positive ones. On the first visit when I handed the vet a letter from our breeder on helpful things particular to my dog's breed, the vet didn't handle it well - very ungraciously giving me a lecture and saying that when my breeder goes to vet school then she'll consider her advice. As a brand new client, I was taken aback to say the least, and left feeling like a scolded kindergartner. While the vet was lecturing, she was also giving our puppy meds without explaining to us what they were for or what she was doing. On our second visit, a different vet noticed our puppy had a hernia, and commented that this could be potentially serious, and said the first vet should have noticed it on her initial exam. I guess she was too busy getting riled up by the breeder letter. On other visits my follow-up questions were never handled with the time, care and concern I would have liked, but rather answers were given with the sort of tired but rushed rendition that made me feel like these cookie-cutter responses were without thought to my specific case, and given in a hurried manner to get me out before the next appointment arrived. On most visits the staff was curt but not rude, until a few months later when my puppy had an emergency and I called for advice. The receptionist said they had no openings and my only choices were to wait until the next day or take the puppy to Angel. All I wanted to do was describe my situation to the vet and get some advice. The receptionist at first refused to get the vet on the line, saying she wasn't going to be able to offer me anything more than what I'd just been told. After I very curtly asked to speak to the vet, she reluctantly got someone (but not without giving me attitude first!). I immediately called another local vet, who went out of their way to see me that afternoon. I had my puppy records transferred and will not be going back! The second vet is a little more expensive, but they spent an hour and a half with me on short notice and went out of their way to make sure my puppy was ok. more

Wonderful and Attentive 1/7/2010

I go back and forth between Boston and Los Angeles, so my dog has two vets. Each are competent, but both Dr. Wosko and Constantino (and Giraflaco before them) are superior: they spend A LOT of time explaining all options and exploring all possibilities. My dog's vet in L.A. is, it must be said, considerably cheaper, but also much, much faster. At South Bay you really get terrific attention. Also, for quick follow-up questions they are terrific about returning phone calls. Highly recommended Pros: always willing to discuss over the phone Cons: can be a bit difficult to get an appointment more

better care than most people get 11/23/2009

With regard to prior comments: Pros: great doctors and staff Cons: if you don't live here parking can be tough more

Fails to react in an emergencies!! 4/7/2009

After failing to react in emergencies and mis - diagnosing a pet who had cancer I stopped going more

Unusual Practices! 9/2/2008

Caring Doctors & Amazing service! 5/7/2008

I have two chihuahuas, one older and a new puppy. I had taken my older one to a different vet earlier on before I found South Bay Group. Now that I'm bringing my new one to South Bay and going through all the puppy things there, I am completely impressed. Pros: caring, warm doctors more

Great Doctors 4/15/2008

I have been taking my dog since 8/2007 here and they are great. They treat them as if they were their own dog, and they know a lot, and do not jump into conclusion if they find something. They look for everything before diagnostic them. more

Great Clinic, Great Vets 10/24/2007

I love this clinic! I have been bringing my dogs in for the last two years, and the office is at a great location, clean and professional. I used to live in upstate New York, and what a difference in care! This clinic can handle anything: My dog even goes in for ultrasounds! My partner has been going to this clinic for the last 10 years, and he agrees. Pros: Great service, great location Cons: parking more

South Bay Vets are Excellent 11/29/2006

I have been bringing my dogs to South Bay for over 10 years and have had nothing but good experiences. I usually see Dr. Constantino (who is excellent) and have occasionally seen Dr. Wosko who is also very competent. Pros: Very knowledgeable and compassionate, really care about the animals Cons: Parking difficult more

Surprised by last review 8/25/2006

This vet was recommended by a woman I work with and I have been going there for 2 years or so. They are the perfect balance of excellent care at a reasonable price. Dr. Constantino has excellent ""bedside manner"" and has been great with my kitty. They were awesome about getting my cat in for a hospital stay after spending $$$$ at Angell Memorial (the best for middle of the night care but costly). The only thing I don't like is trying to get an appointment! I highly recommend Dr. Constantino. Pros: Reasonable cost Cons: lack of on-street parking, hard to get appointments more

Look Elsewhere 4/20/2006

Found the vets and the staff very cold. They came across as if they thought they were superior. They were also rude when called by a surgeon's office and asked to fax over my pet's medical records! Take your furry friends ELSEWHERE! more
