South 47 Farm

My husband was out of town and I guess I was feeling adventurous because I took my 5-year-old and 2-year-old to the South 47 Farm for their corn maze. I have to say it was a lot of fun but I was wondering what I was thinking. My older child liked to run ahead and my younger liked to lag behind and gnosh on raw corn stalk leaves for some reason. (Luckily, it's an organic farm so I wasn't too concerned about pesticides! Haha!) I had never been to a corn maze so I don't know if they all have this, but there would be a question posted at a branch in the road and if you chose the right answer it would point you in the right direction. Otherwise, you would eventually come to a dead-end. By the time we were done, we were muddy and wet but we had a great time. Then we bought cider, kettle corn and mini-pumpkins. more

South 47 Farm is such a great asset to the community. I've only know of it because I take my nephews there around Halloween time to get pumpkins. But its so much more. For those who don't have a yard of your own they offer small plots that you can rent for the season to grow your own vegetables. However, I just know about the fun I've had with my nephews going on free hay rides through the pumpkin patch. Around Halloween time you can go out to the farm to pick your own pumpkin, get a hot cup of spiced cider, and even pet some farm animals. It's a must "do" event for the fall! more
