Most of their stuff is completely overpriced 5/9/2011

and I mean completely. Their older comics even if not in complete mint condition are basically a rip off. I also noticed, if you go here for Magic the Gathering cards, the only good deal is when you pre-order booster boxes, after they they go to a bit more than a 100% mark up. Put it this way, if you pulled every single rare out of a booster box, the value of all those cards wouldn't even surpass the price of the box, by the way it's impossible to pull every single rare to mythic rare. Basically, this place is nothing more then an overpriced crap shop. You can definitely get better prices online even after the shipping charges. booster pack $3.99, booster box you are looking at $154 with the tax included. You can get legit booster boxes at other places online for $89 even for core sets that are a year old compared to this place which still sells them at $154 (tax included) it's ridiculous. They definitely don't know anything about selling items. usually a booster box should be cheaper compared to buying 36 separate booster packs, but sadly it's not. I have definitely noticed a huge dwindle in their customers for a few years. the booster boxes at other places selling them for either $89.99 or even $94.00. there is something definitely wrong with this store. They do say they sell retail, but damn, there is a big fat line to where you are getting a proper deal compared to a complete rip-off. The Source comics & games is definitely not a place to get deals, unless you pay in advance for pre-ordered items, but I assume even that can be dodgy at times. 100%+ markup on stuff, they will not get my business, that's for damn sure. rip-off alert. more

Everything I've seen in Los Angeles... except BETTER! 7/9/2009

Occupying a tail end of a hard to get to strip mail I thought this chatted up shop (Hans @ Uncle Svens told me about this place, thank you!) was going to be another let down (see my review of Dreamhaven Books & Comics) though the second I opened the doors I knew I was home. The Source carries everything a Nerdyboy Fanboy needs! Comics Books, Manga, Statues, RPG and more. The gaming section, more than half the size of the store, is pretty impressive. Not only do they have practically every gaming accessory imaginable (including a whole book section on war battle tactics) there's plenty of tables to throw down at. If your ever in town you should give them a visit! more

The Place to Be! 2/20/2009

Have you been here? It's like a Comic Book & Game paradise! Easily the largest selection of spectacular stuff I've ever seen. The width and depth of their selection is absolutely amazing! There's always something new and exciting! The staff has a level of expertise that is unsurpassed. It's obvious they love what they do and they do it like nobody else. In addition, they're kind and considerate to their customers and very active in supporting local charities and folks in need. Be careful going to this store, because if you do, you'll be spoiled forever! Pros: The very best of the best! Cons: There's only one location! more

Not to bad... 10/24/2008

I think that this used to be one of the best gaming stores in the cities... then they became so big and lost that home townie type of flavor they used to have. They used to remember you when you came in but I moved and have not gone in as often as I used to.. so that may be the cause too hehe). My point is though it just does not have the same feel it did before. The books for gaming (old D&D books) are stuffed in drawers now and the 4th edition stuff is displayed on circular spinning displays instead of on the old magazine type racks like they used to. \r While I still go there I do not go as often because it just does not seem the same. I like my game store to be warm and inviting and ""The Source"" just does not have that feel anymore. Now I do have to agree if this store does not have something chances are no store will likely have it.. if it is new. If it is used I will debate that issue as there are small game stores in the cities that will have just as likely a chance to have it over this store too. \r The service is decent.. if you do not mind going to the counter and waiting your turn to ask a question. I will continue to go here once in a while, but it definitely is becoming less and less compared to years past. Pros: Huge line of gaming materials... Cons: It is almost like a gaming department store now. lost that invitiing feel they once had more

Great Staff, a Bit Pricey 3/19/2007

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very welcoming! They're always helpful and are up on all the new games, and what's in the works. The store's selection is amazing. It can get pricey. They also have a discount program called the ""Adventure Club Card."" For a small fee you get a discount card that grants you 10% off anything in the store. This is especially helpful when they have they're sales because you can add the card on top of any discounts already applied! The only downside is they have a totally crappy website. But their in-store customer service offsets their extremely poor online presence. In this day and age how can you not have a decent website??! Pros: Best Customer Service, Highly Knowledgeable Staff Cons: Crappy website more

The Comic Book & Game Mecca 5/20/2006

Great customer service, huge selection, knowledgeable and super friendly staff. This place is the place! Pros: Selection, Service, Prices Cons: There's only 1 Source more

The Source Comics and Games 9/28/2005

Agree that the source is the place to go in the Twin Cities if you have an interest in Games, Comics or collectibles. Very knowledgeable staff, and the store is full of goods. more

Probably the Best in the Twin Cities 6/10/2003

The Source Comics and Games is probably the best store of its type in the Twin Cities. If they don't have something, then odds are nobody in the cities has it. Customer service has not always been as great, but generally I've been pleased with them. Pros: Great Location, Parking, Fun Atmosphere more
