Just the name, SOUPerChix (along with the ladle in the actual design of the logo), strongly implies that the restaurant would offer many different varieties of homemade soups, but after walking through the doors, we saw that it was not what we had been lead to believe. Sure, they had chicken noodle soup and bean soup; but that's two soups. The menu was more of an unhealthy Home-style/Southern theme, which is fine; we love food of that sort, but it can be found much cheaper and much better at countless other locations. We still decided to give it a try. I ordered a small Caesar salad with chicken, which mainly consisted of iceberg lettuce instead of the Romaine described on the menu. My order was "to-go" and rather than putting the salad in a box fitting for the size of our meal, my "small" salads were spread thinly over the massive Styrofoam containers made for much larger portions. If you were to order a 'small' drink, imagine receiving a 'large' cup filled 1/3 of the way up. The main issue is the misconception many people will have about the business after seeing the sign and reading thename. After reading SOUPerchix, you expect 30 different types of soup; healthy, homemade soup. The establishment is much more about the chicken than the soup, which is fine. Chicken is great, but is extremely overdone. The chicken is great and that can't be denied; but it just seems like most of the menu options are geared towards a family unit. More specific recipes aimed at the individual would do very well because even though Ballantyne is an area of numerous families, it is just as much an area of single, active individuals looking for unique, healthy meals. The location of the business is RIGHT next to a gym. People who are watching their weight would love to go to a place right next door serving delicious, but light, homemade soups, as the name implies.
Soup-hungry and disappointed,
Chase and Christina
