My partner and I spent a four day roadtrip perpetually disappointed in the quality of food, service or both we received at a number of restaurants. We were lucky to find the Soup Cellar, aka ""Filipino American."" The name might be confusing but the food was absolutely clear. The salad bar had freshness and diversity of options down to an art. There wasn't a wilty lettuce to be found among the large variety of offerings. And the soups were excellent, the kind I wish my mother could make. The pumpkin bisque was hearty and filling, and the turkey potpie cured both my partner and I of our restaurant malaise. If I lived in Salem, I would be here ALL the time.
